Future: 720 PS in BMW Power BEV - Electric 5er (G30)

The currently strongest BMW is not the new M8 Competition or the M5 Competition, it is the BMW Power BEV (Battery Electric Vehicle) electric 5 series based on a G30. Ok - this vehicle is just a "testbed"! But this test vehicle shows what is possible with the 5th generation of BMW electric drives. By the way, this vehicle can be seen at #NextGen 2019. Under the sheet metal are three electric motors that generate a system output of 530 kW / 720. If you use full power, you can sprint from 0 to 100 km / h in under 3 seconds. But not only the longitudinal dynamics should be outstanding, the 5 Series should also score with regard to the lateral dynamics. The developers of the chassis and the engineers of the drive have therefore cooperated particularly closely and, for example, gave the 5 Series a highly agile all-wheel drive.

The system is designed in such a way that the two electric motors on the rear axle can be controlled separately. Each motor is responsible for "one" wheel, which means that the 5 Series has powerful e-torque vectoring that is better than any conventional limited-slip differential. Incidentally, the engines do not use rare earths, so the increasing scarcity of raw materials in the field of electric drives is likely to play less of a role for BMW in the future. The standard interior is also surprising. There are no restrictions whatsoever, which impressively shows that there is more than just a show car here. Information on the range or the charging speed of the BMW Power BEV is not known. If we receive more information, there is of course an update for this report. Thomas Wachsmuth - He has been an integral part of tuningblog.eu since 2013. His passion for cars is so intense that he invests every available penny in them. While he dreams of a BMW E31 850CSI and a Hennessey 6x6 Ford F-150, he currently drives a rather inconspicuous BMW 540i (G31/LCI). His collection of books, magazines and brochures on the subject of car tuning has now reached such proportions that he himself has become a walking reference work for the tuning scene.  More about Thomas
