Fantastic: 1963 Chevrolet Corvette Grand Sport Repromod!

This 1963 Chevrolet Corvette Grand Sport as a so-called Continuation Car has a powerful 750 PS V8 from the tuner Lingenfelter Performance Engineering under the hood and was built by Superformance LLC. The company from Whatney (Irvine, USA) recently released the 2020 Superformance MKIII-R replica (strictly speaking Repromod) caused a stir as a modern Cobra and this beautiful 1963 Grand Sport (C1) is in no way inferior to the Cobra, in our opinion. In particular, the crazy Lingenfelter Performance LT4 V8 under the hood with a massive 750 hp is an absolute highlight of the conversion. And this vehicle is a replica! Because Chevrolet only built five Grand Sports in 1963 and an original - if available at all - would of course be impossible for a conversion and also unaffordable.

The replica of the Chevrolet Corvette Grand Sport has been produced in small series as a replica in the USA and also in South Africa since 2009. The vehicle is manufactured at the “Duntov Motor Company” in Farmers Branch (Texas) and in Port Elizabeth, South Africa by Hi-Tech Automotive & Superformance LLC under the name Super performance Corvette Grand Sport pass.

Normally, General Motors ZZ4 engines with an output of 257 kW (350 hp) are used and no variant with more than twice the output. Incidentally, Superformance's kit cars and replicas are officially built under license from GM, which even means that original tools can be used for production. And in the video below, Doug Campbell from Superformance gives a little insight behind the scenes of the company and what makes the Grand Sport so special.

only 1315 kilograms curb weight

And the video also mentions that the vehicles have shrunk by 1/8 compared to the original. Frankly, we wouldn't have noticed that at all. In any case, it saves a lot of weight and material. The Corvette Grand Sport shown in the video, based on the 1963 model year, is a great example of such a superformance structure. Instead of the 327 or 377 cubic inch V8 of the Grand Sports ex works, this example comes with the aforementioned LT4 V8 under the hood and is likely to give many a super sports car a run for its money. Especially in view of the curb weight of just 1315 kilograms. Everything is underpinned by a powerful soundscape from the powerful sidepipes, which can be heard constantly and constantly in the video.

 Interior with many amenities

And in addition to the beautiful, classic silhouette in red with white stripes, the cabin is also a real eye-catcher. Superformance installs some components to enable a certain long-distance suitability. And so the Repromod enjoys comfortable and fully adjustable seats, power steering, an adjustable steering column, air conditioning and of course there were state-of-the-art disc brakes all around for species-appropriate deceleration. The only disadvantage we can see: dhe price of at least $ 200.000!

Of course, that wasn't it by a long shot. Our tuning magazine still has tens of thousands of other tuning reports in stock.
