Mercedes-AMG is sending its compact SUVs into the next model cycle with numerous innovations and extended standard equipment. The newly shaped front apron with the AMG emblem and the new light signatures for the headlights and rear lights set visual accents. As standard, only LED technology is now used for the lighting. MULTIBEAM LED headlights are optionally available. Another distinguishing feature of the facelift: the wheel arch extensions of the GLA are now painted in the body color.

AMG engine electrified with hybrid functions
In terms of engine technology, the GLA 35 4MATIC now has the belt-driven starter generator (BSG) and an additional 48-volt on-board network as standard. The second generation RSG acts as a mild hybrid. In addition to the temporary performance boost of 10 kW (14 hp), it also enables functions such as coasting and recuperation for more efficiency. The 48-volt technology also increases comfort, since the transitions between the start-stop and coasting functions are almost imperceptible. The powerful and agile 2,0-liter four-cylinder turbo engine delivers 225 kW (306 hp), which is variably distributed to all four wheels via the AMG SPEEDSHIFT DCT 8G transmission and the AMG Performance 4MATIC all-wheel drive. The sporty driving performance is combined with a wide range of driving experiences ¬ from very sporty to long-distance comfort.
Upgraded interior with the latest MBUX generation
The latest generation of the AMG Performance steering wheel is standard in the interior. The AMG steering wheel buttons impress with brilliant displays and intuitive operating logic. Important driving functions and all driving programs can be controlled via this without taking your hands off the steering wheel. The MBUX infotainment system is also state-of-the-art with a new, AMG-specific screen design and expanded functions. Mini-games pass the time when parking. Apple Car Play and Android Auto can be connected wirelessly to the vehicle.
Higher USB charging power and an additional USB-C port improve connectivity. Some driving assistance systems also offer an increased range of services. The Active Lane Keeping Assist, for example, now corrects by means of gentle steering intervention instead of via the ESP® system. This is significantly more comfortable. The next generation of the parking package supports parallel parking and offers 360-degree visualization of camera-assisted parking using 3D images.
New options for all models
There are new light-alloy wheels for all GLA and GLB models from Mercedes-AMG: a 19-inch AMG wheel in a ten-spoke design in two-tone matt black with a high-sheen surface. Also available are two AMG 20-inch wheels in a five-twin-spoke design in two-tone matt black with a high-sheen surface or in two-tone matt black with a high-sheen rim flange.
New upholstery covers for the standard sports seats or the optional AMG performance seats for the GLA give the SUVs a modern ambience. The combination of ARTICO man-made leather with MICROCUT microfibre can now also be ordered in Bahia brown. Sagegrey/black is the new color for ARTICO man-made leather. And red pepper/black is available for the first time for the leather seat covers. Open-pored lime wood in brown complements the optional selection for the decorative elements.
