Hard to believe, but it's been a crazy 11 years since the tuner Icon 4 × 4 the first vehicles of the in-house "Derelict series' brought to market. What began with a 1952 Chevrolet Deluxe Business Coupé has since been followed by many others Restomod vehicles to the electric Derelict Lincoln Mercury added. Vehicles were seen particularly often whose optics had been modified in some places, but which at the same time were given a subtle touch Patina of the last decades are on the way. In the case of the Chevy mentioned above, there was a brand new 6,2-liter LS3 V8 under the sheet metal, there was a six-piston anti-lock braking system, various alligator and buffalo skins in the interior and even chic CNC-milled rims. And now Icon is continuing the Derelict series with a German classic. And with one 1971 Mercedes-Benz 300 SEL.

Derelict Mercedes-Benz

Jonathan Ward, Founder and Lead Designer at Icon said: “Our specialty is preserving everything we love about classic cars while making them more fun and enjoyable to drive. As usual with Icon, the Benz also received a powder-coated finish Type Morrison chassis, the all around with a coilover was loaded. Next there was one Independent suspension and of course a new one Motor. Specifically, it is the brand new one here as well 6,2 liter LS9-V8, which not only provides significantly more power, but also a converted one 4L85E four-speed transmission is coupled. Using a modern Rack and pinion power steering will increase the agility and performance of the 300 SEL clearly improved. Through the already mentioned Bremsanlage, which by the way comes from Hydratech & Brembo, and behind beautiful ones milled from one piece EVOD aluminum rims sitting is also a suitable one delay guaranteed.

the cabin has also been completely redesigned

All cables and wires are renewed and also the classic Interior, which looks fresh from the Mercedes factory, has been revised. A modern one is installed AC system (air conditioning), there were heated Front seats, restored Wood paneling and a state-of-the-art one Audio system with four Focal two-way speakers, a subwoofer, amplifier and Bluetooth connectivity. Nevertheless, the vehicle shows itself in typical Derelict manner with a touch of Stainless steel and chrome on the exterior and should hardly be distinguishable from a standard SEL for the layman. The vehicle can be seen at the Optima Batteries booth at this year's SEMA and is priced from $450.000. If we get more information about the changes, there is of course an update for this report.
