KW V4 Clubsport coilover kit now for the BMW M4!

The known KW V4 Clubsport coilover kit With its three-way adjustable dampers, the suspension manufacturer has technically revised it for all current BMW M3 sedans, BMW M4 Coupé, BMW M4 Competition and the new BMW M4 CSL. What is new is that the current generation of the KW V4 Clubsport suspension is now manufactured as in racing applications in GT4 customer sport via front axle struts made of a motorsport steel alloy in combination with 40 millimeter upside-down damper cartridges. But even more motorsport components are used in the new KW V4 Clubsport coilover kit. The front axle struts have external reservoirs with high-speed and low-speed compression valves, while these valves are integrated directly into the rear axle dampers. The rebound forces are adjusted via the piston rod. The scope of delivery is rounded off with unibal support bearings on the front and rear axles. The recommended retail price is 6.999 euros.

Current sports cars such as the BMW M3, BMW M4, BMW M4 Competition and BMW M4 CSL are becoming more and more powerful and even when driving on racetracks, the lap times are getting shorter and shorter. The suspension manufacturer has developed the new KW V4 Clubsport coilover kit for BMW M enthusiasts who want to unleash their sports car even more on the race track. "We carry our KW Clubsport applications in our Track Performance delivery program and so these chassis are also very close to our professional motorsport developments," says Maren Vogt, KW Brand Manager for the Track Performance area, describing the new KW V4 Clubsport.

The KW V4 Clubsport coilover suspension for the BMW M4 (G82) with rear-wheel drive is basically based on an adaptation of a KW motorsport suspension. The chassis manufacturer KW automotive has been a partner of the BMW customer sports program for several years. “We are currently equipping all BMW M4 GT3 with our five-way adjustable motorsport dampers and are happy about the DTM victory of Schubert Motorsport and Sheldon Van der Linde. In January 2023, the new BMW M4 GT4 will be launched worldwide with dual performance-adjustable KW Racing dampers.” KW automotive has extensively revised the entire V4 Clubsport coilover kit for the BMW M4 Trackday community.

What is new is that for vehicles with high cornering forces, the wheel-guiding MacPherson front axle struts are now manufactured in an upside-down design with a 40 mm plain bearing damper cartridge. The reason is that when driving on race tracks, extreme cornering forces occur on the BMW M4 front axle due to the rapid succession of chicanes, the tighter curve radii and the much higher cornering speeds. "That's why double wishbones are used on the front axle of the BMW M4 GT3 racing car," says Maren Vogt. "In order to be able to drive faster and longer with a road M4 on racetracks, we decided to use the upside-down struts during development."

The damping forces are generated on the working piston and the low-speed and high-speed compression valves in the expansion tank on the front axle spring strut. The integrated click wheels provide 16 clicks in rebound and 13 clicks in high-speed and 14 clicks in low-speed compression for fine-tuning the setup for the respective route profile. The position-independent reservoir can also be used to adjust the gas pressure volume. The big advantage is that with the KW SingleTube technology you can work with much less gas pressure. Even with aggressive steering manoeuvres, the BMW M4 body structure is perfectly supported and cut curbs are cushioned by the Clubsport suspension. Handling benefits even further thanks to the unibal aluminum top mounts.

Setting via purple and gold colored click wheels

In addition, the wheel camber can also be adjusted on the front axle via the Clubsport top mounts. No external expansion tank is used on the rear axle of the KW V4 Clubsport. The separately adjustable low-speed and high-speed compression valves are attached to the side of the damper. As with other KW Clubsports, the individual damper setup is adjusted directly using the purple and gold-colored click wheels on the shock absorber with 14 clicks for the high-speed compression stage and 13 clicks for the low-speed compression stage.

The aluminum support bearings for the rear axle dampers have unibal bearings and are attached directly to the original series mounting points on the body. The camber is adjusted as usual on the rear axle wishbones. The KW V4 Clubsport coilover kit is available for 6.999 euros including parts certificate for all BMW M4, BMW M4 Competition and BMW M4 CSL with rear-wheel drive. The continuous lowering range is 20 to 35 millimeters on the front axle and 15 to 30 millimeters on the drive axle.
