Basically, the Land Rover Defender is definitely not a vehicle for drag racing. It is one of the toughest off-road vehicles on the market and should be special away from paved slopes play to its strengths. But the team of car wow (YouTube) sees it differently and brings three different Defenders with different drives to the quarter mile. Also included is a brand new Defender V8 (L663) and you can also see a classic Defender with Tesla electric drive. And the number 3 is a heavily modified classic Defender with a LS V8 under the hood. The stock Defender is powered by a 8-liter supercharged V5,0 and has a peak power of 525 PS and 625 Newtonmeter torque. However, with an unladen weight of 2.471 kilograms, it is also the heaviest vehicle in the comparison. At the same time also the strongest defender in this drag race.
Defender V8 vs. LS-V8 and Tesla E conversion
It continues with a Defender Tesla drive. The electric motor delivers 500 PS and powerful 675 Nm torque to all four wheels. Due to the built-in batteries, the performance also comes at a very high weight of 1.930 kg. However, it is still a good half a ton (!!!) lighter than the new model. And then there would be this one V8 Classic Defender without a Land Rover engine under the hood. Instead sits in the so-called Arkonik Defender (built by the Arkonik Ltd.) the LS3-V8 from the Chevrolet Corvette. In other words, the off-roader is powered by a 6,2-liter V8 436 PS and 475 Nm fueled. With an unladen weight of 1.860 kg, it is the lightest of the three candidates. And who is the fastest now?
