At the season finale in Bahrain, the two nine-elevens show many striking colors from ten years with the GT racing car - from the classic Porsche Motorsport design to the popular "Pink Pig". The 8-hour race will take place on November 12 at the Sakhir circuit. The two 911 RSR used by Manthey have striking stripes in red, blue, pink, black, gold and gray on the front, on the side and on the rear wing, in addition to the basic color white. The large lettering “Goodbye” is emblazoned on the windscreen. The 16 class victories achieved so far since 2013 are immortalized on the fenders of the two nine-elevens. On the roof are the names of all drivers from ten years of factory service, along with "Goodbye" in the national languages of the World Championship venues where the 911 RSR competed.
Porsche 911 RSR design
“Our racing cars will be real eye-catchers at the season finale of the FIA WEC. I'm really looking forward to the reactions of the fans," said a delighted Thomas Laudenbach, Head of Porsche Motorsport. “The GTE Pro class in the Endurance World Championship will be phased out at the end of the 2022 season. So it will be our last appearance with the factory team's 911 RSR. For this very special occasion, our designers created a foil that, in my opinion, beautifully represents the history and successes of ten years. And the crowning glory is to follow in Bahrain: we are aiming for race victory and winning the manufacturers’ and drivers’ titles.”
eye-catching, popular, successful
"For our entire team, the season finale in Bahrain is associated with great emotions," says Alexander Stehlig, Head of Works Motorsport FIA WEC, looking forward to the last appearance of the 911 RSR works team. “Mechanics, engineers and drivers have experienced many highlights in the GTE Pro class in recent years. Our Porsche 911 RSR has always been one of the most eye-catching, popular and successful racing cars in the highly competitive manufacturer team category. At the end of this great program we would like to set a highlight again - sporty as well as optically. I find our special design very successful. It is an ideal combination of modern shapes and historic colors.”
The history of the works team in the GTE Pro class ends with the 62nd race since 2013: The category will be discontinued next year. The Porsche 911 RSR will continue to compete in the FIA WEC: in 2023, customer teams will use the proven racing car in the GTE-Am class. Starting in the new season, the sports car manufacturer from Stuttgart will be competing with the Porsche 963 in the Endurance World Championship and the North American IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship under the banner of Porsche Penske Motorsport and is particularly interested in the classics in Le Mans, Daytona and Sebring compete for overall victories.
