Lowered - Additional control unit for electronic lowering

An additional electronic lowering control allows the lowering of original air suspensions (in the picture a Mercedes with factory Airmatic) beyond the factory setting. This lowering is also possible without the device, for example by installing modified coupling rods (has already been tested by us).

adjustable coupling rods also allow a lowering

Starting position for the lowering

In principle, vehicles with adaptive air suspension can be electronically lowered. But you should have on all wheels on the adaptive air suspension (air struts). These include the Audi models A6, A8, Allroad and Q7, the VW models Touareg and Phaeton, the Bentley Continental GT and the Continental Flying, the Porsche Cayenne and a few more models. Especially in the upper class and in the SUV area, vehicles are often equipped with a factory-fitted air suspension. Lowering is possible slightly even without increased vehicle level, without any problems one starts from 25 mm. Extreme values above 45 mm are definitely not possible with simple software optimization or interface programs. However, in many cases by means of modified coupling rods (see tutorial above).

There would then be permanent displays in the error memory or the desired changes simply cannot be saved. In practice, the upper limit is 35 to 40 mm, depending on the vehicle. Therefore, an additional control unit is required for a larger lowering. This is placed in front of the factory-installed control unit for the level control. Very similar to a tuning box for a chip tuning. Alternatively, only major modifications to the axle parts and dampers would be possible. The driver can of course also opt for this. But this is only necessary if the vehicle is to be extremely deep.

The Active Suspension Control as additional control unit for electronic lowering

The Active suspension control is a practical air suspension control with which the vehicle can be lowered individually. This additional control unit for the electronic lowering is used to regulate air suspension units installed as standard. It works without external buttons, the original condition of the vehicle is retained. The ASC (Active Suspension Control) is connected to the air suspension control unit via plug & play. There is even an app for iOS and Android devices. This allows the driver to control the lowering of their car via smartphone. For example, if they are on a bad road or even on dirt roads (or in the field), they would be safely picked up.

Alternative control using original control elements is also possible. The series function is the setting of the desired change value (lower or higher), there is also the show mode. This lowers the car to a preset value. It is also possible to correct any misalignment. If a landing gear has been lowered significantly, it can tend to be slightly tilted - probably because it was not properly calibrated at the factory. The additional control unit can compensate for this misalignment for the lowering.
