Pirelli goes one step further and revolutionizes the world of tires for sports cars. With the new P Zero Trophy RS, a semi-slick tyre, the tire manufacturer would like to address precisely those vehicle manufacturers who want to emphasize the sporty character of their top models. The first to grab this innovative tire was Pagani Automobili for its latest hypercar, the Utopia. As an improved version of the P Zero Trofeo R, Pirelli has slightly shifted its target group with the P Zero Trofeo RS. Pirelli originally designed the P Zero Trofeo R for the aftermarket to increase track performance. Now, however, the P Zero Trofeo RS focuses on original equipment and allows manufacturers to deliver vehicles that are tailored for a sporty driving experience from the start.
A quantum of performance: Pirelli P Zero Trofeo RS!
With the Trofeo RS, Pirelli has further increased tire performance on dry surfaces while at the same time extending the service life. Even in intense conditions, the tire lasts longer, allows higher speeds and guarantees greater safety over multiple trips on the circuit. He owes all this to Pirelli's experience in the top motorsport class. The materials used, primarily the tread compound, benefit from the expertise and are perfectly suited for the street and the race track. Safety on wet surfaces is a high priority for Pirelli engineers as the tire is intended as original equipment for hypercars and street-legal supercars.
P Zero Trofeo RS: innovation meets performance
Pirelli has transferred to the P Zero Trofeo RS some innovative technologies developed through its involvement in motorsport. The technologies represent a tailor-made portfolio to achieve the specific goals of the automakers for each model. The Multi compound tread is one of those technologies that allows the tires to be adapted to the specific characteristics of each car, using different tread compounds from Pirelli's Prestige catalogue.
For example, Pirelli has provided special P Zero Trofeo RS tires for the Pagani Utopia, which, compared to the P Zero Corsa, enable superior handling on extremely sporty journeys without impairing the driving feel or the balance of the vehicle. Pirelli mastered the challenge primarily by selecting the right mixtures. Especially for the Rear tire Pirelli has selected the most potent compounds to enable an optimal combination of speed, safety, agility and predictability both on the racing asphalt and on the public road.
Digitized development: A look into the future
One of the innovative tools available to Pirelli engineers was the virtual development the tire geometry. This enabled them to virtually model different tire contours and contact surfaces and to optimize the reaction accuracy of the tires to steering manoeuvres. Virtual development was used extensively for the Pagani Utopia before the first physical prototypes were tested on the race track. The focus was on the contact surfaceto ensure maximum grip and control. The new Pirelli P Zero Trofeo RS is already available as original equipment.
