Testing organizations for vehicles in Germany!

In Germany there are several technical ones Testing organizationswho carry out vehicle inspections and issue approvals. The main organizations are listed below:

  1. TÜV (Technical Monitoring Association): The TÜV is probably the most well-known technical testing organization in Germany. The TÜV tests usually include the main inspection (HU) and the exhaust gas analysis (AU). The HU is a statutory test that must be carried out regularly to ensure that a vehicle is safe and roadworthy.
  2. DEKRA: DEKRA is another important technical testing organization in Germany. It conducts similar tests as the TÜV, including the HU and AU. The DEKRA also has a registration office that issues vehicle registrations.
  3. GTI (Society for Technical Monitoring): The GTÜ is another technical testing organization that HU– and carries out AU examinations. However, it is smaller than TÜV and DEKRA and has fewer locations in Germany.
  4. KÜS (Motor vehicle monitoring organization of freelance motor vehicle experts eV): The KÜS is an independent technical testing organization that carries out tests similar to those of the TÜV and DEKRA. However, it has fewer locations in Germany and is usually represented in more rural areas.
  5. FSP (Freelance test center for road traffic): The FSP is an independent test center that carries out vehicle tests for private and commercial customers. It also has an admissions office and offers additional services such as type approvals and individual acceptances.
  6. SGS TÜV Saar: SGS-TÜV Saar is a technical testing organization that carries out tests similar to those of TÜV and DEKRA. However, it has only a few locations in Germany and is mainly active in the Saarland region.

It is important to note that the various technical testing organizations in Germany perform similar tests, but there can be differences in costs and quality of service.
