Passenger transport vehicles must undergo an annual general inspection. Some special features apply to the HU according to § 41, 42 (2) or 42 (1) BOKraft. The BOKraft survey is required for taxis, rental cars, buses and other passenger transportation vehicles. It not only includes the usual safety-relevant checks of all important vehicle parts, but also the inspection and proper equipment and condition of the respective vehicle.
What is BOKraft?
BOKraft stands for the Ordinance on the Operation of Motor Vehicles in Passenger Transport. The scope and basic rules for passenger transport companies are regulated in 47 paragraphs as well as all basic rules and regulations for safety and regular inspection of these companies.

What does BOKraft regulate?
The BOKraft regulations contain paragraphs on the operation and testing of the equipment and condition of the vehicles as well as special provisions on the inspection of vehicles used in passenger transport. The regulation covers all things that companies have to observe and regularly check (or have) checked on their vehicles. In contrast to private vehicles, these vehicles must be presented for the main inspection every year.
Who is the BOKraft for?
Companies that transport people in motor vehicles or buses and are subject to the Passenger Transport Act must comply with the provisions of BOKraft. These include taxis, rental cars and buses.
What is checked according to § 41 and § 42 BOKraft?
Paragraphs 41 and 42 BOKraft regulate the regulation for annual main inspections and for extraordinary main inspections.
Examination § 41 BOKraft among others:
- Annual main inspection
- Checking safety-relevant components such as fire extinguishers or first-aid kits for functionality and completeness
- Testing of door systems on buses
- Checking the correct labeling of emergency exits and checking the completeness of emergency hammers on buses
Examination § 42 BOKraft:
- Before vehicles intended for the transport of people are put into operation for the first time, an extraordinary inspection must be carried out. All of the vehicle's safety and operating systems are checked to ensure that they comply with the applicable legal regulations.
