Suspected illegal street racing with 100 vehicles

On the A20 near Wismar, the police yesterday withdrew countless vehicles suspected of driving an illegal road race. BMW M5, Mercedes E63 AMG, Ferrari 488, Lamborghini Diablo VT or even a tuned Audi R8. Vehicles heavily powered by 100 were on the A250 at speeds beyond 20 km / h and the police noticed. There is no speed limit at this point! At the service area Fuchsberg, just east of Wismar, the officers then pulled 107 vehicles out of circulation. With high probability, the number of participants was even greater, which is currently unclear.

the “Eurorally” counts 150 vehicles

Almost all vehicles took part in the so-called “Eurorally”, which is touted as an “event for car enthusiasts” and originated in Norway. After paying a fee of € 800, it goes from Oslo via Kiel to Stettin and finally to Prague. Is currently being investigated because of the allegation of a forbidden car race and endangerment of road traffic. The onward journey was stopped for the time being in any case. The police force was quite extensive, including various checkpoints and the use of helicopters and federal police officers.

  1. "Suspicion of illegal street racing" - I understand that street races are undesirable. But the "PS Boliden" "at 250 km / h" and "with EuroRally sticker" "dozens of people in a row" are on the highway, that seems to me to be a very thin set of facts.

I've also been after a BMW with the firm intention of overtaking it. There was a Porsche behind me. We also had 250 on it. Was it illegal? What nonsense, of course not.

Danger, e.g. due to unadjusted speed, overtaking on the right, driving up tight: wave out and good. Driving fast in a pack: that's allowed.

The police seem cautious to me here. OK, I can accept their assessment. But what bothers me: the cars are towed away or prevented from continuing for 1,5 days so that they simply cannot take part in the trophy. WTF? Doesn't that go a little too far as long as there is no concrete accusation, for example, of coercion?

    • Hi J.,

WE see it in a similar way, if not “exactly” like you. At least "I" as a victim would exhaust all means if it was not a correct action on the part of the police. We'll see…
