Since many buyers the optics of tinted windows estimate, many new cars are already delivered to customers with these. Some ex works, some as an extra that is subject to a surcharge. However, tinted windows bring many more advantages than just the look. For example, the interior heats up less, which means that in summer the Air conditioning or other cooling measures are less stressed. In addition, the passengers on the back seat are less blinded. Privacy is also increased by tinted windows, as the direct view of the interior is made more difficult or completely impossible.

If the vehicle is not delivered with tinted windows from the factory or if it is a used vehicle without tinted windows, there are two options for tinting afterwards. First of all, the panes can be exchanged for finished, darkened panes. However, this option turns out to be very expensive and time-consuming. The cheaper alternative is to attach tinting films. However, since the view must not be restricted when driving, it is not permitted to attach foils to the windscreen and the front side windows for the "Normalo". There is only one exception: at the top edge of the windscreen is a maximum of 10 centimeters wider Strips of tinted film allowed. However, the tinting of all side windows from the B-pillar and the rear window is permitted if there is a second exterior mirror.
