As one of the few manufacturers of chassis for BMW vehicles with all-wheel drive (BMW xDrive), KW automotive has also developed coilovers for the new BMW M235i xDrive Gran Coupé. The chassis manufacturer relies on its experience as a development service provider and chassis supplier for selected special models from the Bavarian automobile manufacturer. While KW variant 3 can be adjusted in compression and rebound, variant 1 does not have any adjustable dampers with multi-valve technology. The KW coilovers, also known as height-adjustable sports suspensions, allow the M235i xDrive Gran Coupé to be lowered by a maximum of 40 millimeters. A M235i xDrive Gran Coupé equipped with a KW chassis provides safe driving behavior in every driving situation. In addition to the traction, the handling characteristics of the BMW also increase. The KW coilover kits including parts certificate are available for the BMW M1.199i xDrive (F235, F44GC) from 2 euros.

Coilovers with parts certificate

For many years, the chassis manufacturer KW automotive has been a development service provider, supplier and motorsport partner for selected series models and motorsport projects in the automotive industry. KW automotive has developed excellent expertise among BMW drivers and BMW tuners with its diverse aftermarket chassis. "Many BMW enthusiasts appreciate the fact that we develop height-adjustable sports suspensions, so-called coilover suspensions with parts certificates, for so many models with BMW xDrive“, Explains KW Brand Manager Jonas Ehrmann. The first KW coilovers with spring struts made of stainless steel have recently appeared for the BMW M235i xDrive Gran Coupé (F44, F2GC).

significantly sportier handling

The KW coilover kit Variant 1.199, available from 1 euros, gives the 306 PS strong BMW significantly sporty handling, reduced pitching and rolling movements and, thanks to its design, conveys a more direct roadholding. Demanding BMW drivers who want even more performance on the road in everyday life are advised to switch to a KW coilover kit variant 3. "In variant 3, we are one of the few chassis manufacturers to use multi-valve technology in the vibration dampers“, Continues the KW brand manager. "This enables us to achieve more sensitive damping and at the same time offer the option of adjusting the driving behavior of the M235i xDrive Gran Coupé to personal preferences.“Only with a few coilover kits is it possible at all to adjust the compression and rebound levels separately for an individual chassis setup. How quickly the chassis rebounds when the load changes, for example, can be set via the rebound stage. In addition, the rebound forces also have an impact on handling and how the body is connected to the road.

less sway when turning

In variant 3, the low-speed range of the two-stage rebound valve can be set with 16 precise clicks. "As a damper manufacturer, lowspeed does not mean the speed driven, but the speed of the piston rod movement“, Continues Jonas Ehrmann. Separately from the rebound valve, the low-speed compression can also be adjusted with twelve clicks. This has an influence on the swaying of the body structure when turning, the pitching when braking and when accelerating. The damping can also be taken into account in the case of long bumps using the pressure level. KW is one of the few manufacturers to use preconfigured high-speed valves for the compression and rebound stages in its chassis, which open depending on the strength of the vertical acceleration and thus enable harmonious suspension even with a tight damper setup. Even when the vehicle is lowered to the maximum and when driving quickly over bumps or large transverse joints, the wheels spring in harmoniously.

maximum lowering on the M235i xDrive Gran Coupé

Both the KW coilover kit variant 1 and variant 3 enable maximum lowering of the BMW M235i xDrive Gran Coupé. The adjustment range covered by the parts certificate is 25 - 45 millimeters for the front axle and 20 - 40 millimeters for the rear axle. When purchasing and installing from KW specialist dealers, the suspension manufacturer and its specialist trade partners grant the KW 5-year additional guarantee, which is optional in Germany, on all KW coilovers. The recommended retail price for variant 1 starts at 1.199 euros and variant 3 is available for 1.959 euros for the BMW M235i xDrive Gran Coupé.
