One topic that is particularly popular again this summer is tinting car windows. Away from various clichés that claim that tinted car windows are chubby and only occur in the tuning scene, we would like to give a few tips on what you should pay attention to when tinting your windows. By the way, pretty much every manufacturer already offers this option ex works. So if you order a new car, it would be advisable to tick the option list and save yourself the trouble of having to change it later. Here are our tips:
- the legal regulation for window tinting is clear and must be observed
- Foil provides protection from heat and UV radiation
- Foils that contain a general type approval from the Federal Motor Transport Authority are permitted
- the type approval from the Federal Motor Transport Authority must always be carried in the vehicle
- the film must contain the corresponding certification mark (the certification mark must be visible on every tinted pane)
- Tinting film must not be used everywhere in the car (no windscreen, no front side windows)
- Alternatively, a sun visor strip can be attached to the windscreen, but this must not exceed 0,1 mXNUMX of the windscreen
- The tinting of the side windows behind the B-pillars and the rear window is allowed (the tint level does not matter)
- If possible, have the installation carried out by specialists
