How long can your RV stay on the road? One week? A whole month? Or is the time span much shorter? Basically exists no limit for the length of time a mobile home may be parked on the side of the road. However, there are a few things you need to keep in mind: There should of course be no parking restrictions at the location in question, the motorhome must also have a valid MOT sticker, weigh less than 7,5 tonnes and not cross any parking markings. Motorhomes with a total weight of up to 2,8 tons are allowed to park on sidewalks, just like normal cars.

keep an eye on schedules

However, if you are aiming for a longer parking time, it is advisable to check with local residents in advance to avoid possible disputes. And mobile homes that weigh more than 7,5 tons are only allowed in residential and recreational areas and in built-up areas with one special permission between 22.00 p.m. and 06.00 a.m. as well as on Sundays and public holidays. Depending on the country, the regulations for parking mobile homes vary significantly. For example, in many countries it is not allowed to park mobile homes on public roads or private parking lots - they have stand in specially designated places.

Country Parking
Bulgaria public roads
Greece public roads
Croatia public roads
Portugal public roads
Belgium private properties
England private properties
Ireland private properties
Netherlands private properties
Poland private properties
Switzerland private properties

In addition to these rules, there are often other specific provisions. If you are considering a motorhome holiday abroad, it is therefore advisable to check the specific regulations with a traffic club before you leave.
