The new Mercedes-AMG SL: the equipment
The equipment details and the numerous options offer a wide range of options for customizing the new SL - from sporty and dynamic to luxuriously elegant. Twelve paint colors including the two exclusive tones Hyper Blue Metallic and MANUFAKTUR Monza Gray magno, three roof variants, numerous new wheel designs in sizes 19 to 21 inches as well as various exterior design packages are available.
For the market launch, Mercedes-AMG is offering the new SL in twelve attractive paint finishes. In addition to the Unilack Sonnengelb, the range also includes the particularly exclusive MANUFAKTUR lacquers. In addition, there are the metallic paint finishes high-tech silver, obsidian black, selenite gray, spectral blue and hyper blue, which is exclusively reserved for the SL. Another exclusive paint is MANUFAKTUR Monza gray magno. The range of colors is rounded off by MANUFAKTUR alpine gray uni, MANUFAKTUR opalith white bright, MANUFAKTUR opalith white magno, MANUFAKTUR patagonia red metallic and MANUFAKTUR spectral blue magno. All paint colors can be combined with a black, red or gray fabric hood.
The SL 55 4MATIC + comes standard with 19-inch AMG light-alloy wheels in a multi-spoke design, optionally in matt silver or black, while the SL 63 4MATIC + comes with 20-inch AMG light-alloy wheels in a 5-twin-spoke design. The range of wheels includes a total of nine different variants. Including two aerodynamically optimized 20-inch options in a 5-twin-spoke or multi-spoke design. The range is rounded off with 21-inch AMG light-alloy wheels in a 10-spoke design and 21-inch AMG forged wheels in a 5-twin-spoke design, both in two color variants.
Exterior design packages for an even more elegant or sporty look
For further refinement of the optics in the direction of elegance or dynamism, there are three exterior design packages to choose from for the new SL.
- The AMG Exterior Chrome package contains elegant highlights in high-gloss chrome on the front apron, the side skirts and at the rear.
- With the AMG Night package, selected exterior elements are finished in high-gloss black, such as the front splitter, the side sill panels, the mirror caps and the trim in the rear diffuser. There are also darkened tailpipe trims. Depending on the paint chosen, this results in striking contrasts or flowing transitions.
- The AMG Night Package II also includes other elements in high-gloss black, including radiator grille, typography and a Mercedes star on the rear.
- With the AMG Exterior Carbon Package, lightweight components made of carbon fiber are reminiscent of the motorsport history of the SL. The carbon parts include the front splitter, the exterior mirror housings and the diffuser at the rear. There are also tailpipe trims in high-gloss black.
AMG DYNAMIC PLUS package for maximum driving pleasure
The AMG DYNAMIC PLUS package is optionally available for the SL 55 4MATIC + (included as standard in the SL 63 4MATIC +). It bundles numerous high-performance components - for maximum driving pleasure with impressive agility:
- Dynamic AMG engine mounts attach the engine to the body in a more rigid or flexible manner, depending on the driving situation. In every driving situation, this results in the best possible balance between driving dynamics and comfort.
- The electronically controlled AMG rear axle locking differential distributes the required power even faster and more precisely between the wheels during dynamic cornering and rapid acceleration, thus guaranteeing maximum traction.
- The "RACE" drive program delivers racetrack performance at the push of a button with an even more spontaneous engine response and the more direct accelerator pedal characteristic. Can be selected as an additional drive program using the AMG steering wheel buttons.
- The lowering by ten millimeters lowers the vehicle's center of gravity and also stabilizes the vehicle.
- The yellow painted AMG brake callipers visually underline the increased driving dynamics potential.
Noble ambience in the interior for relaxed and comfortable travel
In the interior of the new SL, high-quality materials and selected color harmonies ensure a luxurious ambience with a high feel-good factor. The standard nappa leather for the V8 models is available in black, sage gray / black, red pepper / black and sienna brown / black. The optionally available upholstery in MANUFAKTUR macchiato beige / titanium gray or in MANUFAKTUR tartufo brown / black provides a particularly exclusive touch. The AMG Performance seats can also be covered with a combination of nappa leather and DINAMICA microfibre with yellow or red decorative stitching.
In addition to the standard high-gloss black, the trim elements and the center console are also available in aluminum or carbon, as well as in MANUFAKTUR chrome black. The AMG performance steering wheel with steering wheel heating as standard is available in nappa leather and nappa leather / DINAMICA microfibre.
Mercedes-AMG key with convenient KEYLESS-GO functions
The two model variants of the new SL feature KEYLESS-GO with flush door handles as standard. As soon as the electronic key is in the immediate area of the vehicle (around one meter in the vicinity), the vehicle electronics communicate with the key via antennas. If the code matches, the vehicle recognizes its owner and unlocks itself. Another advantage: the SL cannot be locked while the electronic key is in the vehicle. The vehicle can be locked either actively using the key or by pressing the button on the handle of the driver's or passenger's door. The starting process is also conveniently carried out without the need for an ignition key. The engine starts as soon as the start / stop button to the right of the steering wheel is pressed while the brake pedal is depressed.
The high level of comfort of the new Mercedes-AMG SL is underlined by standard equipment details such as the wireless charging system, i.e. a wireless charging option for compatible smartphones that meet the so-called Qi standard. The corresponding area for inductive charging is located in the storage compartment in the center console, details of the charging process are displayed on the touchscreen.
