As a twin of the Chevrolet Camaro, the Pontiac Firebird from the late 1960s is still a desirable classic of the muscle car era. But unlike its brother named Camaro, the Firebird has long been history, as the Pontiac brand, as is well known, did not survive the Great Depression in 2008. But there are still many fans of classic Pontiac models who can make friends with this model that we are introducing to you today. After all, it's complete modified, and strong modernized, so that it still offers a lot of power and torque even for today's conditions, and you don't have to worry that it will fall victim to current emissions regulations.
Blue classic for US car fans!
The vehicle that has been around since his restoration ran just under 2.000 miles (approx. 3.219 km) is currently on the auction platform Bring a trailer auctioned. The first thing to fall is the medium blue Painting on that is not series. If the color sounds familiar to you, we will inform you that the paint is the BMW color Yas Marina blue concerns.
You can usually find the paintwork on M models with the white and blue propeller, but we think that it also looks good on a US classic. The Suspension was of course also redesigned to make the car look good not only on the drag strip and on the straights, but also in curves. QA1 coil springs, adjustable rear dampers, and wide Slippers from Nitto are supposed to ensure that the Pontiac also learns cornering. Externally there are still black lacquered ones bumpers front and back, one bonnet with two large air scoops as well BC Forged rims with a bronze finish and a BBS-like design.
The Hood with the two hoods is painted in glossy black to create an optimal contrast to the medium blue body. We are sure that the Pontiac will inspire every US car fan and that the oldie would also find many fans in Europe.
Modernity found its way into the interior!
A current one Automatic selector lever, a modern one Touchscreen for the infotainment system as well as a current one Sport steering wheel with a wreath in carbon look, which is held in the unusual six-spoke design, testify to a fundamental revision of the cockpit. A modern one Sound system with various loudspeakers also found its way into the classic Pontiac.
electrical power windows there is, however, no, and about a retrofitted Air conditioning unfortunately we don't have any information either. the Front seats are upholstered in leather, and come from a Honda Prelude, while the Back seat has BMW seats.
LSA V8 supercharged petrol engine provides propulsion
The engine of the classic car is modern. And that is one LSA V8 petrol engine, which with the help of a compressor on the standard 556 PS and 747 Newtonmeter maximum torque is pushed. Unfortunately, we do not have precise information on the performance in the Firebird, because there were a few on the engine modifications made, which the performance still increase.
A pair of Six-speed manual von Tremec takes care of the transmission of the irrepressible power to the Rear wheels, and a locking differential tries to bring the power to the road without slipping.
Our Conclusion for the 1968 Pontiac Firebird:
A great project, but one that does not have a unique selling point, except possibly the exterior paintwork from BMW. Still, our thumbs go up!
