We were a little surprised that Audi was bringing the sporty S5 with a diesel engine with the facelift of the A5. The 354 PS & 500 Nm strong VW EA839-6 cylinder with turbocharger flew out without further ado and was replaced by the new VW EA897evo2 with VTG turbocharger and electric compressor (mild hybrid system). This is also a six-cylinder and with 347 PS and a powerful 700 NM torque is now the second highest engine next to the RS5. In addition, there was a 48-volt electrical system for the revamped version and of course the typical cosmetic changes. And now comes ABT Sportsline and, if desired, gives the S5 TDI a significant increase in performance. With the help of the high-tech control unit ABT Engine Control (AEC), the power available increases to an impressive 384 PS (282 kW) and the maximum torque increases to 760 Nm.

With that, the torque of the RS5 is even surpassed by a stately 160 NM. And of course that also shows in the acceleration. While the production version just undercuts the magical 4,9 seconds limit with 5 seconds, this looks a bit clearer in the variant of ABT. The most striking feature here are in any case the 20 inch forged wheels of the type ABT Sport GR which are installed on the black photo vehicle. The finish in glossy black is perfect for the dark S5 Sportback and a small eyecatcher is the diamond-turned rim flange as a contrasting element. The rims have a recessed hub area and the forked spokes emphasize the strongly concave rim design.

And to ensure that the wheel set fits perfectly in the wheel arch, ABT threaded coil springs are also available on request, which allow variable lowering of the 15 to 40 mm at the front and rear axles. Optionally, you can even combine these with the in-house sports stabilizers. With details such as the ABT emblems on the rear and grille, other 19 and 20 inch rims in different colors or an optional front and rear spoiler, the optical changes are perfectly rounded. And for the cabin ABT has the well-known entry-level lights with ABT logo up to the ABT Individual offer (Production according to customer requirements) also countless possibilities for refining at the start.
