Alpina B3 special edition: For the 50th anniversary of BMW in South Africa!

Reading time 2 Min.

BMW South Africa is celebrating its 50th anniversary with a tribute to automotive art – by introducing a special edition of the Alpina B3 (G20 LCI). The limited series, consisting of only five vehicles, embodies the quintessence of automotive excellence and collectibles. Each of the B3s presents itself in a classic style Alpina Green Metallic (Alpinagrün 2), which reflects the tradition and heritage of BMW. The interior of the limos deserves special attention. They are characterized by exclusive embroidery with the BMW South Africa logo in the headrests, a detail that underlines the special status. Externally they sting 20 inch Alpina Classic rims that give the B3 an incomparable elegance. Of particular interest to collectors is the plaque next to the selector lever Eight-speed automatic.

Alpina B3 special edition

This differs from the usual Alpina models because it dispenses with the typical numbering and instead emphasizes its membership in the exclusive special series. And the technical specifications of the B3 special edition are just as impressive, although unchanged: with the six-cylinder BiTurbo (S58B30), of the 495 PS and a torque of 730 Newton meters developed, the B3 sedan accelerates in just 3,6 seconds from 0 to 100 km / h. Despite the top speed of 305 km/h The focus of the edition is not on maximum speed, but on a combination of performance and exclusive design. Interestingly, all five examples were sold before the first official communication took place, underlining the high demand and special status of the vehicles.

The BMW 333i (E30) was also a collector's car

BMW South Africa is using the milestone to establish a connection with the legendary BMW 333i (E30) to produce, another collector's item that was sold exclusively in South Africa. The special connection underlines the importance of BMW's first foreign factory in Rosslyn, which has existed for 50 years. The Special edition of the B3 is therefore not only a symbol of automotive performance, but also a tribute to the history and enduring influence of BMW in South Africa, a true jewel in the crown of automotive engineering.
