He's also unique for the recently unveiled BMW 3.0 CSL E9 Group 5 replica responsible. But this time it's about the BMW 2002, built in 1974. Georg and his father appropriately bought it in “2002” and have been lavishly refurbished since then. And our personal highlight is the befitting drive under the hood. A radical change compared to the well-known performance levels of the 70s drives the coupe. Bye bye standard M10 four-cylinder and Welcome rare S14B25 Sport Evolution engine from the M3 E30.

The engine even got a classic suction tuning (Enlarged and polished inlet and outlet channels, lightened and finely balanced crankshaft, Wössner piston, Pauter connecting rod, BMW Motorsport camshaft, E34 M5 valves, mechanical hydraulic valve lifters, carbon airbox, DTM intake bridge, freely programmable MBE control unit, electronic water pump) and is now mobilizing a lot 306 PS, which hit only 860 kilograms. Incidentally, the engine continues to only send its power to the rear wheels and the Battery as the Cooling water tank have been moved to the trunk since the renovation. The engine is coupled to an M3 gearbox, which only really fit after many other changes. So that the significant increase in performance comes on the road appropriately, a Bilstein coilover suspension installed and the rear axle was borrowed from the 3 series E21. Only then was it possible to use disc brakes on the rear axle.

In addition to the perfectly restored body, a high-quality design of the interior with leather and Alcantara can be seen. There was a new center console, largely made of light carbon, there was a minimalist one Instrument panel, a bowl Momo motorsport steering wheel, Stack racing display with analog tachometer and two-line digital display, but the standard ones are unchanged Door panels! They were the inspiration for the rest of the interior with the blue-purple tone. The leather comes from the Porsche upholstery and covers next to the Recaro pole position sports seats and parts of the rear bench seat also include the dashboard and the side panels of the center console. The paintwork of the body attack the Schroth belts back up and the headliner as well as the seat and back surfaces of the rear bench are covered with Alcantara. But what else does the 2002 have to offer? What leaves the hearts of fans of historical tuning beat up? For example the BBS-E50 magnesium wheelset (three-part, golden magnesium cross-spoke stars, high-gloss aluminum step beds, 9 × 16 u. 11 × 16 inches, Dunlop SP 9000 in 225 / 40R16 u. 255 / 35R16, low offset), the Mercedes-Benz silver finish (744) or the Do-it-yourself dome to accommodate the suspension struts in the 02 body.

Incidentally, the braking system mentioned above comes from a Porsche 993 Carrera and has 4-piston calipers with perforated 322-millimeter discs at the front and a 1-piston system from the E21 323i with 258 mm discs at the rear. In terms of the soundscape, there was also a custom-made stainless steel exhaust system with an E30 M3 manifold. And that sounds fantastic. The rev limiter allows a huge 8.700 rpm and the racing four-cylinder would even take 9.000 tours without damage. By the way, in 2002 it was switched using 5-speed manual transmission from the E30 M3 that sits in an enlarged transmission tunnel. And finally ... a fantastic one-off piece that with 2,77 kg / hp even has a lower power-to-weight ratio than the M4 GTS. Georg Schuster explains the immense effort the project made in the video:

  1. Me encanta el tuning !!! los distinto estilos que se pueden hacer, utilizar la imaginación etc…. Este BMW is increíble tanto the video como the photos. Me ha encantado sinceramente, me gustaría que os paséis por mi blog y que le echéis un vistazo, hablo de coches deportivos, tuning, coches que se ha sacado de desguaces o han estado abandonados y se han convertido en coches increíbles.
