About 900 PS - Ford Mustang Lithium Electric!

From the manufacturer Ford come surprising news of a concept car that has emerged in cooperation with Webasto. And indeed shows Ford a current Mustang GT equipped with electric drive. And this drive is more powerful than anything Ford has in its range. Even the one presented yesterday Shelby American GT500 Dragon Snake can not compete! Welcome "Ford Mustang Lithium" ... A visually rather inconspicuous Ford Mustang GT which has over 900 PS and more than 1.300 Newtonmeter torque. This is made possible by an 800-Volt technology and as an absolute surprise, even an 6 gearbox by Getrag is installed. The vehicle was, as already mentioned, developed with the company Webasto and is a prototype. But the Mustang is already a first look at how an alternative to the hybrid V8 in Mustang could look like.

Webasto battery instead of the V8

The muscle car fan base had even made friends with it a little, but Ford recently dropped the hybrid design from the planning. Instead, a purely electric Mustang should come onto the market relatively quickly. One would like to build the E-Mustang as a series vehicle in the plant in Flat Rock (USA) where an autonomous hybrid vehicle and an electric SUV should actually be built. But you are "not" there yet. The Ford Mustang Lithium study proves that we are on the right track. The 800-volt system is also used in the new Porsche Taycan and, compared to a 400-volt system, is lighter, more powerful and generates less heat while also generating more electricity. The main component is the 800-volt battery from Webasto, which can deliver one megawatt of electrical energy. That would even be over 1.300 hp.

So that the components coupled thereto (Phi-power dual-core electric motor, drives, gears, etc.) but not vanishing into thin air, the Mustang was limited to "only" 900 hp. Unfortunately, Ford has so far not provided any information on the electric motor, range or battery capacity. But at least there are a few details about the transmission. As already mentioned, it is a MT82 six-speed gearbox from Getrag that with its special parts can withstand the enormous torque of over 1.300 Nm. A Torsen differential helps to distribute the power and the four adjustable drive modes (Valet, Sport, Track, Beast) make it possible to find exactly the right gradation.

Carbon body kit with lithium front spoiler

You can adjust it on the new 10,4-inch touchscreen that Ford integrates vertically into the center console. Other highlights from the exhibition vehicle are a carbon body kit (own front spoiler, Sankuer Composite Technologies side skirts & diffuser) Lowering by 25 mm and fancy Forgeline forged wheels in 20 inches. The most visually striking feature is certainly the Webasto bonnet with the small polycarbonate windows, which allow a look at the technology underneath. In addition, there were a few color accents in light blue on the brake calipers, the roof and especially light blue, there is in the sporty cabin. Should we receive further details on the Ford Mustang Lithium in a timely manner, there is of course an update for this report. You will be informed if yours is just ours Feed subscribe to.
