It has been almost two years since we left the company Greater led by Gianluca Maggiore a Ferrari 308 Restomod (Project M Magnum) was presented. And now it's time to present another project. Maggiore unveiled the successor a few days ago at the Hampton Court Palace Concours. And that's a tribute to the Ferrari GTO 288 with the surname "Gran TurismO". Motor in the middle, rear drive, folding headlights in front - what more could you want? And one of the most important details of the new project is the Power Type, Because the Motor based on the 2,9-liter turbocharged V8 that powers the 288 GTO, among others. However, it was significantly modified for use in Gran TurismO. Although the old crankcase (basic engine) was retained, the engine was given a new one Heads, eight individual chokes, a Manifold intercooler, Carbon fiber plenum and also sequential turbocharger.
Maggiore Gran TurismO
Next the engine got a Dry sump lubrication and all in all, Maggiore states that the 2,9-liter V8 is now full 30 percent smaller is as ex works. As a result, the engine can be installed lengthwise in the vehicle and no longer across as in the original 308 GTS. The modified design should also help to significantly improve the driving characteristics, which of course is also due to the significant increase in performance. Because that tuning upgrade by Maggiore supposedly leads to a performance of at least 536 PS. And according to the magazine "Piston Heads" the engine could probably even 608 PS shake off the sleeve that means Six-speed manual reach the rear wheels. We hope that we can deliver the exact performance data in a timely manner. In principle, however, this is also more or less irrelevant.
many small and large details
More interesting is the fact that Nicola Materazzi (responsible for the Bugatti EB110, the Ferrari F40 and the 288 GT) was involved in the rebuild of the engine, but unfortunately this month, just days before the car was officially unveiled, passed away. But of course there is more to the vehicle than just the engine. The rest of the rest was also revised and Maggiore gave the restomod a wider track, there was one sports brake system from Brembo and an Érgal chassis, an aluminum alloy developed for the aerospace industry. Also a newly designed one Body made entirely of carbon to save important kilograms. And Maggiore kept those too folding headlights albeit with new technology.
Info: Regardless of whether it is a Ferrari 208, 308 or 328, all vehicles can be converted.
Incidentally, such a conversion by Maggiore “always” includes a complete one restoration and reinforcementto withstand the new load level. However, no prices have been announced for the conversion and no date for the start of production. If we get more information about the changes, there is of course an update for this report.
