World premiere: 2022 GMC Hummer EV "Edition 1" with 1.000 PS!

Hurray, Hurray the lobster is back! Namely as a crazy GMC Hummer EV "Edition 1" with 1.000 PS and "supposedly" insane 15.500 NM torque! And visually he is immediately recognizable as a relative of the AM General HMMWV. It was then the basis for the Hummer as a division of General Motors. And now the GMC Hummer EV is coming back to the streets in 2022. And that as a fully electric premium off-roader. However, under the name GMC Hummer and not as an independent brand as before. With the new open-air design, the Hummer EV is immediately recognizable as a Hummer due to the characteristic style elements. And with GM's Ultium battery technology, which was developed with Honda, it will have a range of more than 350 miles. In contrast to the ancestors H563, H1 and H2, the EV has unusual H-shaped headlight elements and a full-width LED light bar on the front.

high waistline and narrow discs

It proudly shows the Hummer lettering and it continues with a strongly upright windshield, which is reminiscent of previous models, but at the same time retains a certain aerodynamic efficiency. There is also a high belt line and narrow discs and an angled C-pillar. It continues with flared fenders for the 35 inch (0,89 m) Goodyear Wrangler Territory slippers, which can also easily accommodate 37 inchers. At the rear, GMC has installed a MultiPro tailgate similar to the GMC Sierra and a manual tarpaulin protects the load from rain and dirt and at the same time improves aerodynamics. Under the EV there is a powerful underrun protection plate which, with other smaller steel plates, protects important drive components and the batteries mounted on the floor. The used Ultium battery structure offers sufficient rigidity to enable the "Infinity Roof". The roof consists of three transparent parts and enables a spectacular fresh air experience. And the rear window can also be opened.

Hummer EV with premium positioning

Inside, the Hummer EV reveals its premium positioning in the segment. There is a large 13,4 inch (approx. 34 cm) infotainment system and a digital 12,3 inch (approx. 31 cm) instrument cluster with a wealth of functions. For example, UltraVision underbody cameras are installed at the front and rear and a maximum of 18 different views are possible with additional cameras. And the optional "Watts to Freedom mode" activates an impressive driving experience with the full performance of the EV drive train for maximum acceleration. GM says that in this mode the Hummer will hit 3 km / h in just 100 seconds. While driving, off-road widgets in the infotainment display and in the instrument cluster provide information about the torque output, the status of the limited-slip differential, the tire pressure, the torque distribution and much more. There is even a "drift display". It shows the maximum drift angle. The first models of the GMC Hummer EV 2022 come with three electric motors and an "estimated power" of 1.000 PS (746 KW) and an unbelievable 15.592 NM torque. Is this number believable? Not in terms of the electric motor performance as we think - sorry GMC!

According to GMC, the Hummer EV has no restrictions in terms of load capacity to complain about. 800 volt direct current fast charging is possible, which is possible with chargers with up to 350 kilowatts. With a 350 kilowatt DC charger, the Amik can be strengthened for the next 10 kilometers in 160 minutes. Further details of the Hummer EV with e4WD drive system are all-wheel steering with CrabWalk function, there is an adaptive air suspension to raise the Hummer by 6 inches (approx. 15 cm) and the vehicle should be just as powerful on the road as it is off-road. Conveniences like the "Super Cruise" function (Function for driver support with lane change function & Co.) should underline. The first electric Hummer will go on sale as Edition 1 for $ 112.595 in the fall of 2021. Each Edition 1 is identically equipped, painted white and equipped with a Lunar Horizon interior.

Will the twin-engine EV2024 base model not be available until 2?

The full equipment includes the Infinity Roof, the Watts to Freedom driving mode, the adaptive dampers, an off-road package (Underbody protection, rock slider, 35-inch tires), the all-wheel steering with CrabWalk and the aforementioned Super Cruise mode. The EV2022X version will then follow in autumn 99.995 for 3 US dollars. And in the spring of 2023, another variant will come with the Hummer EV2X for 89.995 US dollars. The twin-engine EV2024 base model is not planned for 2. But why do you have to wait three and a half years for the basic model? By then, the Rivian R1T and the Tesla Cybertruck could erode many customers from the manufacturer GMC. Was that considered? We do not know it!
