After the YouTuber Whistlin Diesel recently with the idiotic Ford F-350 Super Duty "load test" Another video is now online on the channel. And this time the focus is on a 1957 GMC pickup restomod. As far as we know, the cool pickup is completely restored and rebuilt and in a really good and very well-kept condition. It has been given a two-tone paint job and even the cabin is in top condition with a new leather interior and the fully restored dashboard. And luckily, this time the fear that the beautiful classic will be uselessly destroyed or senselessly maltreated is also unfounded. Instead, you invest about $ 10.000 in a new chassis with a significant increase and in an insanely huge wheelset.

chrome rims with off-road tires

Because the completely chrome-plated rims are rollers the incredible 16 inches (over 40 centimeters) are wide and have a low bed that could also serve as a dog house. Incidentally, the wheelset was equipped with coarse off-road tires and essentially these are all the changes that have been made after the restoration. The video shows that a certain amount of effort is of course required to properly install the chassis. But the workshop that the YouTuber has chosen does a good job because the result looks, at least in visual terms, extremely successful as we think. The view below is then again less convincing. The chassis acts "sizzled together“And just built in carelessly. And it doesn't work 100% either. Because when the steering wheel is turned, the large off-road tires hit the front fender and the front apron a little.

a little more fine-tuning and everything is good ...

Here you would either have to use slightly different tires or, if necessary, adjust the wheel arch cutout to the new dimensions. Or just live with the fact that the steering angle is reduced! In Amiland this is certainly not a problem. In Germany, however, it would fail due to the tires not being covered. Not to mention the grinding front wheel. We hope WhistlinDiesel decides to revise the setup a little bit and not to send the fancy 1957 GMC Pickup into the eternal hunting grounds by any crazy actions. If we receive timely information about any changes, there is of course an update for this report. You will be informed if you simply use ours Feed subscribe to.
