Now it gets airy (on request)! Because it is (among other things) about a Range Rover Cabriolet, which the team from Lunaz design was not only completely restored, but also equipped with an electric drive. But first things first! Why are you actually doing this? One thing is a fact: as vehicles age, it becomes increasingly difficult to legally move them on the road. In addition, the maintenance costs also increase more and more over the years. Although there is H-plates for the classic, nonetheless will Environmental zones and blanket driving bans certainly no less in the years to come. One solution to “future-proof” a vehicle to a certain extent, and to some extent also to simplify maintenance costs, is to replace the combustion engine with an electric motor. And that's exactly what Lunaz does!

Lunaz Range Rover

On request, the Lunaz team can install a purely electric drive train in almost any classic vehicle, thus creating a so-called Electric mod. The British company specializes in conversions from combustion engines to electric vehicles and has just introduced a few new vehicles based on the first generation Range Rover. You can see a convertible (drop top country) and an LWB (long wheelbase) SUV. The convertible is based on the vehicle from the 1983 film "James Bond 007 – Octopussy', just as a fully electric SUV convertible. For the conversion, the range was dismantled down to the bare metal and subsequently reinforced. It was also equipped with a six-piston brake at the front and a four-piston system at the rear with a regenerative function for charging the battery.

360 PS & 612 Nm of torque

Other improvements include a complete overhaul of the chassis (adjustable coilover suspension with long spring deflections), Of course there was the eye-catching paint finish in Maya Blue and the newly installed electric drive also generated powerful 360 PS & 612 Newton meters of torque. And something has happened inside, too. Among other things, you can see fine mocha walnut wood on the loading area and the center console, which is coated with a hard-wearing, satin-matt weatherproof paint. A practical cooler and a USB charging function are also integrated in the individual center console. And as far as we know, from the pictures, the LWB specimen also got this kind of restoration and of course the E-conversion. However, in combination with a 6 inch (approx. 15 cm) infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and an improved sound system including a 1.300 watt amplifier.

over 50.000 working hours

According to our information, the future owner even ordered a center console with heated and cooled cup holders, there was a wireless charging pad and one Refrigerator has also been installed. There are even electrically powered ones in the back massage seats (can be heated & ventilated) built-in. On the outside, the LWB is painted red/orange with a black roof. While "normal" Lunaz vehicles take around 30.000 hours to complete, the so-called "Town Project" has even invested a crazy 50.000 hours. Incidentally, prices for such a vehicle start at £245.000 (about €280.000) and are open-ended. Info: the images are renderings.
