843 PS - the Mercedes-AMG GT 63 SE PERFORMANCE!

The first performance hybrid from Mercedes-AMG goes into series production and uses technology from Formula 1. The concept includes an independent drive layout with an electric motor and battery on the rear axle, as well as a high-performance battery developed in-house. The Mercedes ‑ AMG GT 63 SE PERFORMANCE (Weighted fuel consumption, combined: 8,6 l / 100 km; Weighted CO2 emissions, combined: 196 g / km; Weighted power consumption: 10,3 kWh / 100 km) combines superior performance and impressive driving dynamics with the highest level of efficiency thanks to its special drive train. The E PERFORMANCE model is thus transferring the DNA of AMG Driving Performance into the electrified future. The combination of 4,0-liter V8 biturbo engine and electric machine generates a system output of 620 kW (843 hp) and a maximum system torque of more than 1.400 Nm.

AMG GT 63 SE PERFORMANCE

The immediate response of the electric drive on the rear axle, the rapid torque build-up and the improved weight distribution enable a new, highly dynamic driving experience. As in Formula 1, the battery is specifically designed for rapid power output and consumption. The electric range of 12 kilometers enables a practical radius of action, for example in the city or in residential areas. In communication on electrification, Mercedes-AMG is breaking new ground together with brand ambassador will.i.am: the world-famous musician and multiple Grammy award winner is the protagonist of the “Everything but quiet” marketing campaign. He not only contributed to the concept, but also wrote an exclusive song for the release video.

“With the new Mercedes-AMG GT 63 SE PERFORMANCE we are transporting our typical DNA into an electrified future. We are taking our own technical paths that have always made AMG so special and desirable. The performance hybrid developed entirely in Affalterbach offers a fascinating level of driving dynamics and rightly bears our new technology label E PERFORMANCE. With this new concept, we are also opening up to new target groups who can experience Mercedes-AMG as a performance luxury brand of the 21st century. Our move towards electrification typical of AMG is flanked by a large-scale campaign. And I am delighted that with Superstar will.i.am we have also been able to win a special partner, whom we have been able to inspire with our technology, "says Philipp Schiemer, Chairman of the Management Board of Mercedes-AMG GmbH.

“Mercedes-AMG has always stood for top performance and maximum driving dynamics. When developing our E PERFORMANCE hybrid strategy, it was clear from the start that we would pursue an independent concept for AMG that would combine our core brand values with high efficiency. The new Mercedes-AMG GT 63 SE PERFORMANCE is now going into series production. The layout with a combustion engine at the front and an electric drive unit at the rear offers numerous advantages. The optimized weight distribution, the best possible use of the torque or the very spontaneous power output promise driving dynamics at the highest level. In addition, there is the high-performance battery developed by us, which has twice the power density compared to conventional drive batteries and, like many other components, is inspired by the technology from Formula 1, ”says Jochen Hermann, Technical Director of Mercedes-AMG GmbH.

Expressive design with a distinctive front apron

The expressive design with the hood pulled down at the front, muscular body, crouched greenhouse and powerful fastback highlights the sporty genes of the four-door coupé. The characteristic front apron, which is based on the shape of the two-door AMG GT, is striking. It looks like it is made of one piece and blends in homogeneously with the dynamic design of the entire vehicle. The outer air inlets are wider and tapered towards the center of the car. The air flow is channeled through three vertical fins to the wheelhouse radiators.

843 PS - the Mercedes-AMG GT 63 SE PERFORMANCE!

Exclusive identifying features at the rear are the rear apron with integrated plug-in loading flap and the model designation on a red background. With the hybrid, AMG is also introducing fluted trapezoidal twin tailpipe trims. On the side, the fender badge "E PERFORMANCE" indicates the hybrid drive. As with the entire series, numerous paint finishes and equipment details are also available for the hybrid version. For example, there are four matt lacquers, five metallic tones and two solid colors to choose from. There are also seven new paints from the expanded customization range. The exterior design can be further accentuated with the new AMG Night Package II or the combination of Night Package and Carbon Package. There are also new 20- and 21-inch light-alloy wheels, each in two colors. The exclusive edition is also available for the performance hybrid.

As the new flagship of the series, the AMG GT 63 SE PERFORMANCE is particularly extensively equipped. It received all the upgrades of the latest model updates, such as the AMG RIDE CONTROL + suspension with a new damping system. Also on board as standard are the adapted AMG ceramic high-performance composite brake system and the MBUX multimedia system with special hybrid displays.

MBUX multimedia system with hybrid-specific displays

843 PS - the Mercedes-AMG GT 63 SE PERFORMANCE!

The standard widescreen cockpit has the MBUX multimedia system with AMG hybrid-specific displays and functions. In the instrument cluster, the driver can read off the electric range, power consumption, power and torque of the electric machine as well as the temperatures of the battery and electric machine. High-quality graphics in the multimedia display visualize the power flow of the entire drive system, speed, power, torque and temperature of the electric machine as well as the temperature of the battery. The rear seat passengers receive information on the energy flow as well as the power and torque of the electric machine on their optional multimedia display.

AMG performance steering wheel in double-spoke design

The standard AMG performance steering wheel with its distinctive double-spoke design and seamlessly integrated buttons also offers tangible and visible added value. The three rounded double spokes combine stability with lightness. The round AMG steering wheel buttons impress with their brilliant displays and their perfect turn and push control logic. This enables important driving functions and all driving programs to be controlled without having to take your hands off the steering wheel. A new feature is the ability to select the recuperation levels of the hybrid drive using the steering wheel buttons.

843 PS - the Mercedes-AMG GT 63 SE PERFORMANCE!

Many individual options are available in the interior. Exclusive colors emphasize either the sporty or the luxurious side of the new flagship - for example, the combination of Exclusive Nappa leather, titanium gray pearl / black with contrasting topstitching in yellow, or noble Exclusive Nappa tartufo / black leather with STYLE features (diamond quilting). There are also five other colors to choose from in Exclusive Nappa STYLE leather: sienna brown, classic red, yacht blue, deep white and neva gray. The front and rear seats are completely monochrome in the respective equipment color, as are the armrests in the doors, the leather edging of the floor mats and the steering wheel rim.

The details of the AMG-specific performance hybrid drive: combustion engine at the front, electric motor at the rear

In the AMG GT 63 SE PERFORMANCE, the 4,0-liter V8 biturbo engine is combined with a permanently excited synchronous electric motor, a high-performance battery developed in Affalterbach and the fully variable all-wheel drive AMG Performance 4MATIC +. The combination of 4,0-liter V8 biturbo engine and electric machine generates a system output of 620 kW (843 hp) and a maximum system torque of more than 1.400 Nm. The performance of the most powerful production vehicle from Affalterbach to date is correspondingly impressive: it accelerates from standstill to 100 km / h in just 2,9 seconds, and 200 km / h is reached in less than ten seconds. The propulsion only ends at 316 km / h.

843 PS - the Mercedes-AMG GT 63 SE PERFORMANCE!

The 150 kW (204 PS) electric motor is positioned on the rear axle, where it is integrated into a compact Electric Drive Unit (EDU) with an electrically switched two-speed gearbox and the electronically controlled rear axle locking differential. Experts refer to this layout as a P3 hybrid. The lightweight high-performance battery is also located in the rear above the rear axle. This compact design has numerous advantages:

  • The electric motor acts directly on the rear axle and can thus convert its power directly into propulsion - for that extra boost when starting, accelerating or overtaking.
  • The power of the electric motor can be deployed at full torque, as is typical of the design, so that particularly agile start-up behavior is possible.
  • In addition, thanks to the integrated, electronically controlled rear axle locking differential, the driver immediately experiences a noticeable gain in performance: the hybrid model accelerates even more agile out of corners, offers more traction and therefore more driving safety.
  • As the slip on the rear axle increases, the drive power of the electric motor is also transferred to the front wheels as required for more traction. The mechanical connection of the fully variable all-wheel drive makes this possible by means of the cardan shaft and drive shafts of the front wheels.
  • The positioning on the rear axle improves the weight and axle load distribution in the vehicle and thus forms the basis for convincing handling.
  • The AMG concept offers a very high level of efficiency in recuperation because the system allows only minimal mechanical and hydraulic losses from the engine and transmission.
  • The automatically shifting two-speed transmission on the rear axle, with its specially matched gear ratio, ensures the spread from high wheel torque to agile starting up to safe continuous performance at higher speeds. An electric actuator engages second gear at around 140 km / h at the latest, which corresponds to the maximum speed of the electric motor of around 13.500 rpm.
  • With the increase in performance through the additional electric motor, the development team was also able to improve the efficiency of the entire vehicle at the same time - and achieve lower emissions and lower consumption.

Inspired by Formula 1, developed in Affalterbach: the AMG high-performance battery

843 PS - the Mercedes-AMG GT 63 SE PERFORMANCE!

When determining the electrification strategy, it was clear from the start that all essential components would be developed in Affalterbach. The heart of this is the AMG High Performance Battery (HPB). The development of the lithium-ion energy storage system is inspired by technologies that have already proven themselves under the toughest conditions in the Formula 1 hybrid racing cars of the Mercedes-AMG Petronas F1 Team. In the course of development, there was a lively exchange of expert knowledge between the Formula 1 engine manufacturer High Performance Powertrains (HPP) in Brixworth and Mercedes-AMG in Affalterbach. The AMG high-performance battery combines high power, often one after the other, with low weight in order to increase the overall performance of the vehicle. In addition, there is the fast energy consumption and the high power density. This means: when driving quickly in hilly terrain, for example, drivers can spontaneously call up the full performance potential uphill, while there is strong recuperation when driving downhill.

70 kW continuous output and 150 kW at peak

The high-performance battery in the AMG GT 63 SE PERFORMANCE has a capacity of 6,1 kWh, 70 kW continuous output and 150 kW peak output for ten seconds. The low weight of only 89 kilograms enables the very high power density of 1,7 kW / kg. For comparison: conventional batteries without direct cooling of the cells achieve around half of this value. Charging takes place via the installed 3,7 kW on-board charger with alternating current at the charging station, wallbox or household socket. The battery is designed for fast power output and consumption and not for the longest possible range. Nevertheless, the electric range of 12 kilometers enables a practical radius of action, for example for quiet and emission-free travel from residential areas to the outskirts or to the motorway.

843 PS - the Mercedes-AMG GT 63 SE PERFORMANCE!

The innovation boost: the direct cooling of the battery cells

The basis for the high performance of the AMG 400-volt battery is the innovative direct cooling: For the first time, a high-tech coolant, which is based on an electrically non-conductive liquid, flows around all 560 cells and cools them individually. Every battery needs a defined temperature for optimal power output. If the energy storage device becomes too cold or too hot, it temporarily loses its power or has to be turned down in order not to be damaged if the temperature is too high. Uniform temperature control of the battery therefore has a decisive influence on its performance, service life and safety. Conventional cooling systems, which only cool with air or cool the entire battery pack indirectly with water, quickly reach their limits - especially since the requirements are increasing due to increasingly energy-dense cells. If the thermal management does not perform its function optimally, there is a risk of premature aging of the battery.

843 PS - the Mercedes-AMG GT 63 SE PERFORMANCE!

For the direct cooling, the AMG specialists had to develop new, only millimeter-thin cooling modules. Around 14 liters of coolant circulate with the help of a specially developed high-performance electric pump from top to bottom through the entire battery past each cell and also flow through an oil / water heat exchanger that is attached directly to the battery. This conducts the heat into one of the two low-temperature circuits (LT) of the vehicle and from there to the LT cooler on the front of the car, which releases the heat into the ambient air. The system is designed in such a way that even heat distribution in the battery is ensured.

The result: The battery is always in a constant, optimal working temperature window averaging 45 degrees Celsius, regardless of how often it is charged or discharged. Exceeding the average temperature is quite possible when driving with accelerated driving. The protective mechanisms are therefore set so that the maximum performance can be taken from the battery in order to then lower the temperature level again through direct cooling. Conventional cooling systems cannot do this, the battery can no longer call up its full capacity. This is not the case with the AMG high-performance battery: even on fast laps in hybrid mode on the racetrack, with frequent acceleration (battery being discharged) and deceleration (battery being charged), the energy storage system retains its high performance.

843 PS - the Mercedes-AMG GT 63 SE PERFORMANCE!

Only effective direct cooling makes it possible to use cells with a very high power density. Thanks to this individual solution, the battery system is particularly light and compact. The material-saving busbar concept and the light, yet stable crash structure of the aluminum housing also contribute to the low weight. It guarantees the highest level of security.

Operating strategy: electrical power always available

The basic operating strategy is derived from the hybrid power pack of the Mercedes-AMG Petronas Formula 1 racing car. As in the premier class of motorsport, maximum propulsion is always available when the driver needs it - for example to be able to powerfully accelerate out of corners or when overtaking. The electrical power can always be called up and frequently reproduced via high recuperation performance and needs-based recharging. The independent battery concept enables the optimal compromise between maximum driving dynamics and contemporary efficiency. All components are perfectly matched to one another: the gain in performance can be experienced immediately.

843 PS - the Mercedes-AMG GT 63 SE PERFORMANCE!

The seven AMG DYNAMIC SELECT drive programs "Electric", "Comfort", "Sport", "Sport +", "RACE", "Smoothness" and "Individual" are precisely tailored to the new drive technology and thus offer a wide range of driving experiences that are highly efficient to highly dynamic. The drive programs adjust important parameters such as the response behavior of the drive and transmission, the steering characteristics, the suspension damping or the sound. The programs can be selected using the rocker switch in the center console or the AMG steering wheel buttons.

The performance hybrid usually starts silently ("Silent Mode") in the "Comfort" drive program when the electric motor is switched on. The “Ready” icon in the instrument cluster signals that it is ready to drive. In addition, a powerful, sonorous start-up sound typical of AMG sounds as acoustic feedback that the vehicle is ready to drive, which is emitted into the interior via the vehicle's loudspeakers. A light step on the accelerator is all it takes to set the AMG Performance Hybrid in motion.

843 PS - the Mercedes-AMG GT 63 SE PERFORMANCE!

When driving purely on electric power, the statutory Acoustic Vehicle Altering System warns the environment of the approach of the performance hybrid. A specially composed, low-frequency and speed-modulated AMG sound is heard, which is emitted to the outside via a loudspeaker at the front and rear. Part of the sound can also be heard discreetly in the interior as acoustic feedback for the passengers. In the European Union the system is active up to 20 km / h, in the USA up to the equivalent of approx. 30 km / h. Then the driving signal fades out harmoniously up to approx. 50 km / h.

At higher speeds, the customer can use the sound buttons in the center console or on the steering wheel (recognizable by a frequency wave symbol) to choose the sound experience between "balanced" and "powerful": With purely electric driving, either a subtle or a powerful sound experience is staged. When the combustion engine starts, the selected setting influences the sound of the exhaust system. In every situation, one thing remains the same: even the performance hybrid can be recognized acoustically as AMG under all conditions.

843 PS - the Mercedes-AMG GT 63 SE PERFORMANCE!

  • "Electric" driving program: The focus is on the electric driving experience. The purely electric driving takes place from a standstill up to 130 km / h, the combustion engine always remains switched off. Thanks to the mechanical connection to the AMG Performance 4MATIC + components, all-wheel drive is always available: if the rear wheels suddenly slip too much, the power of the electric motor is also transmitted to the front wheels via the cardan and drive shafts. When the battery is empty or the driver requests more power, the intelligent operating control automatically switches to the “Comfort” drive program, the combustion engine starts up and takes over the drive power.
  • "Comfort" drive program: The vehicle is usually started electrically. Combustion and electric motors run depending on the situation - with electric drive at low speeds, for example in residential areas or in the city center, hybrid driving with combustion and electric motors over land and on the highway. Overall, the result is a harmonious and consumption-optimized driving impression, among other things through early upshifting of the AMG SPEEDSHIFT MCT-9G transmission. Chassis and steering are designed with a focus on comfort. The focus of the control is on energetic efficiency, so that fuel consumption and emissions can be reduced. The typical AMG sportiness and agility are retained.
  • "Sport" drive program: starting with the combustion engine and electric motor and the interaction of the two drives depending on the situation. More boost from the electric motor is released. Sporty expression of the driving impression through more agile response to accelerator pedal commands, shorter shift times and earlier downshifts. More dynamic coordination of chassis and steering.
  • "Sport +" drive program: moving off with the internal combustion engine and electric motor and the interaction of the two drives depending on the situation. Even higher boost performance. Extremely sporty expression through even more agile throttle response and targeted torque interventions when upshifting with cylinder suppression for optimal shift times. Increased idle speed for faster starting. Chassis, steering and drivetrain are tuned to be even more dynamic.
  • "RACE" driving program: For highly dynamic driving on closed racetracks. Here all parameters are trimmed for maximum performance. Start-up with combustion engine and electric motor and situational interaction of the two drives. Full electrical boost power of the electric motor to support the combustion engine when accelerating strongly. Strong battery recharging when the power requirement is low for maximum electrical availability.
  • Driving program “smoothness”: Is optimally matched to slippery road conditions, with reduced power input and flat torque curve. All-electric driving and recuperation adjustment are deactivated.
  • "Individual" drive program: Individual adaptation of the drive, transmission, AMG DYNAMICS, chassis, steering and exhaust system.

Further advantages of the hybrid drive result for the vehicle dynamics control. Instead of braking intervention by ESP®, the electric machine can also regulate traction as soon as a wheel signals too much slip. In addition, the intelligent control reduces the drive torque of the electric machine, which is transmitted to the wheel via the rear axle locking differential. The result: ESP® does not have to intervene or only has to intervene later. Advantage: The internal combustion engine can thus be operated with a higher torque, which both improves agility afterwards and increases efficiency. In addition, the power otherwise “destroyed” during braking can be used to charge the battery.

Recuperation can be selected in four stages

Because the high-performance battery is always in the optimal temperature window of around 45 degrees thanks to the direct cooling, the recuperation can also be optimized - normally a battery heats up strongly when the recuperation output is high, so that the energy recovery has to be restricted.

843 PS - the Mercedes-AMG GT 63 SE PERFORMANCE!

Recuperation begins when the driver takes his foot off the accelerator pedal, i.e. in overrun mode without touching the brake pedal. The battery is charged and a strong braking torque is generated - the wheel brakes are protected or do not have to be operated at all, depending on the recuperation level and the traffic situation. The driver can select four different levels of recuperation on the right AMG steering wheel button. This applies to all driving programs with the exception of "smoothness", whereby the energy recovery is designed differently depending on the driving program.

  • Level 0: The vehicle behaves in a similar way to a conventional internal combustion engine with manual gearshift, in which the clutch is disengaged and continues to roll with the least resistance when the accelerator is released. The recuperation power is very low and only serves to maintain the vehicle's power supply. With the combustion engine switched off, the friction losses in the drive train are reduced to a minimum.
  • Level 1: This is the standard setting at which recuperation can already be felt by the driver and roughly corresponds to the deceleration of a conventional, engaged combustion engine.
  • Level 2: stronger recuperation, when swimming in traffic, the brake pedal hardly needs to be pressed.
  • Level 3: Maximum energy recovery, so-called “one-pedal” driving is possible here, just like with a purely electric car. Depending on the driving situation, more than 100 kW of power can be fed back into the battery.
  • Special feature of the RACE drive program: On the racetrack, the driver wants to squeeze out the last bit of time on the brakes. In the “RACE” drive program, recuperation is automatically fixed at level 1 in order to enable the most reproducible vehicle behavior in the limit range.

Another advantage of recuperation is that the vehicle does not get any faster on steep downhill slopes. The system works like an engine brake, but it also feeds energy into the battery.

AMG 4,0-liter V8 biturbo engine with twin-scroll turbochargers

As the new top model of the series, the AMG GT 63 SE PERFORMANCE received the power level of the AMG 4,0-liter V8 biturbo engine with 470 kW (639 hp) and a maximum torque of 900 Nm, which is available over a wide speed range from 2.500 to 4.500 / min is available. This design harmonises perfectly with the electric machine, which reaches its maximum of 320 Nm right from the start.

843 PS - the Mercedes-AMG GT 63 SE PERFORMANCE!

Two twin-scroll turbochargers are partly responsible for the high output, which combine optimal response behavior at low speeds with a high increase in output at higher speeds. For this purpose, the turbine housing is divided into two parallel flow channels. Together with two separate channels in the exhaust manifold, this enables the exhaust gas pulses to be controlled separately on the turbine impeller. One duct is fed by the exhaust gases of the first and second cylinders of a cylinder bank, the other by the exhaust gases of the third and fourth cylinders. The aim is to prevent the individual cylinders from influencing each other negatively during gas exchange. This reduces the exhaust gas back pressure and improves the gas exchange.

Belt-driven starter-generator supplies auxiliary units

The belt-driven starter generator (RSG) combines the alternator and starter in one component and has an output of 10 kW (14 PS). It starts the combustion engine and ensures the basic supply of the ancillary units such as air conditioning or driving lights, for example when the vehicle is at a traffic light and the charge level of the high-voltage battery is no longer sufficient to support the low-voltage on-board electrical system. The RSG is particularly quick to react because it is integrated into the 400-volt high-voltage network.

Standard AMG RIDE CONTROL + suspension with a wide spread between dynamism and comfort

The AMG RIDE CONTROL + chassis is based on a multi-chamber air suspension with automatic level control, combined with an adaptive, electronically controlled damping adjustment. This damping system is completely new in the AMG GT 4-door Coupé models: For the first time, two so-called pressure relief valves are used. With the help of these infinitely variable control valves attached outside of the damper, the damping force can be adapted even more precisely to different driving conditions and the driving programs: One valve controls the rebound stage, i.e. the force that arises when the wheel rebounds, and the other the compression stage when the wheel compresses . The rebound and compression levels are regulated independently of one another.

843 PS - the Mercedes-AMG GT 63 SE PERFORMANCE!

The AMG developers were able to significantly widen the spread between sportiness and comfort, among other things by expanding the minimum and maximum damping force characteristic curve as well as even greater flexibility in the design of the map. Due to the special design of the valves, the damper reacts quickly and sensitively to changes in road surfaces and driving conditions.

The driver can pre-select the basic set-up using the AMG DYNAMIC SELECT drive programs: at the push of a button, the driving behavior changes, for example, from full dynamism in the “Sport +” mode to smooth gliding in the “Comfort” setting. In addition, the coordination can be adjusted in three stages via a dedicated button, regardless of the driving programs.

The AMG performance hybrids also receive the integrated AMG DYNAMICS driving dynamics control. It influences the control strategies of the ESP® (Electronic Stability Program), the all-wheel drive and the electronically controlled rear-axle limited-slip differential. This increases agility without compromising stability.

843 PS - the Mercedes-AMG GT 63 SE PERFORMANCE!

Particularly noteworthy: AMG DYNAMICS determines how the vehicle should react. To do this, the system uses the existing sensors, which record, among other things, the speed, the lateral acceleration, the steering angle and the yaw rate. Using an intelligent pre-control, the driver's desired vehicle behavior can be predicted from the driver's actions and the data from the sensors. The control adapts to the driver's dynamic driving abilities in a tailor-made manner - without any noticeable or disruptive interventions by the system. The driver receives a very authentic driving experience with high cornering dynamics and optimal traction with high stability and predictable driving behavior. Even experienced pilots are optimally supported without being patronized by the system.

  • AMG DYNAMICS "Basic" is assigned to the "Comfort" and "Electric" drive programs. The design results in a very stable driving behavior with high yaw damping.
  • "Advanced" is activated in the "Sport" program. The vehicle remains neutrally balanced. The lower yaw dampening and increased agility support dynamic maneuvers such as driving on winding country roads.
  • "Pro" (abbreviation for "Professional") belongs to the "Sport +" program. In “Pro”, the driver is given even more support during dynamic driving maneuvers, and agility and roadway feedback when cornering are further increased.
  • "Master" is linked to the "RACE" drive program. The "Master" mode is aimed at drivers who want to experience dynamism and driving fun on closed circuits. “Master” offers a vehicle balance that tends to be slightly oversteer, more direct steering and more agile steering behavior. In this way, “Master” guarantees maximum agility and brings out the dynamic potential of the “S” version to its best advantage. To get into “Master” mode, the driver must switch ESP® to ESP® SPORT Handling Mode or ESP® OFF using the separate button in the center console.

In the “Individual” drive program, the driver can set the AMG DYNAMICS levels “Basic”, “Advanced”, “Pro” and “Master” himself.

Easy to dose and stable: the AMG ceramic high-performance composite brake system

There are also no compromises when it comes to the brakes: In line with the extreme performance values and the associated performance, the AMG ceramic high-performance composite brake system with bronze-colored 6-piston fixed calipers at the front and 1-piston floating calipers at the rear is used as standard. It is adapted to the high level of driving dynamics and is larger than in the models with a pure combustion engine: the carbon-ceramic brake discs on the front axle measure 420 x 40 millimeters, on the rear axle 380 x 32 millimeters.

843 PS - the Mercedes-AMG GT 63 SE PERFORMANCE!

The braking system impresses with very short braking distances as well as maximum stability and fading stability under heavy use. It also scores with a long service life and particularly spontaneous response. The lightweight material also saves weight and reduces the unsprung mass. The comfort functions include hill start assistance as well as priming and braking when wet. When the ignition is switched off and the vehicle is stationary, the gearbox also automatically activates the "P" parking position; the electric parking brake is automatically released when the vehicle starts moving.

New brand ambassador will.i.am and marketing campaign: "Everything but quiet"

Mercedes-AMG is also breaking new ground when it comes to communicating the new hybrid model. The US world star and entrepreneur will.i.am acts as a long-term partner and brand ambassador for the "Future of Driving Performance" vehicles with electrified drivetrains. The Black Eyed Peas co-founder and front man, musician, producer and tech entrepreneur has received seven Grammy Awards, an Emmy Award, a CLIO Award and an Honorary Fellowship from the Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET).

But that's not all: will.i.am is a real car enthusiast who extensively converts his private vehicles with a high level of technical and aesthetic understanding. He has a keen eye for innovations that bridge the gap between culture and technology. He strives to improve things down to the last detail, to push boundaries and to question the existing until the optimal solution has been found - just like the Mercedes-AMG team in the development of the performance and sports car models. The focus of the long-term partnership between will.i.am and Mercedes-AMG is on projects relating to the company's electrified future and music.

843 PS - the Mercedes-AMG GT 63 SE PERFORMANCE!

The new AMG GT 63 SE PERFORMANCE transports the DNA of AMG Driving Performance into an electrified future. “Everything but quiet” is accordingly the core idea and claim of the campaign film for the presentation of the new model. The focus is on a 60-second film that British star photographer and director Rankin will.i.am and the AMG GT 63 SE PERFORMANCE conceived and staged as a sophisticated game of character parallels between the two game changers.
