Before this very special G-Class lost its roof, she stopped at Brabus for some upgrades. It is safe to say that the G-Class has been an interesting vehicle since its appearance at the end of the 1970s. Over the years, a variety of derivatives have been launched, but the youngest are perhaps the craziest. There was the madness with the G63 6 × 6 from Haustuner AMG and it went on colorful. Today we are at G500 4 × 4 ^ 2 reached. The last hurray for the W463 series was the opulent one G650 Landaulet, Also referred to as Mercedes-Maybach, this corresponds to a particularly luxurious variant of the classic G-model.
That heavily customized G is what happens when you get a G500 4 × 4 ^ 2 from Brabus merge with the luxurious landaulet. Although the result of the merger is not nearly as unusual as the original Maybach model, it is still a fabulous sight, in which the passers-by turn around their necks to the car. The team of RDB LA car shop is behind this project and has done a lot more work than just cutting off the roof of the SUV. For example, tailor-made all-electric and adjustable rear seats have been installed farther back in order to create more legroom compared to the standard model with the same standard wheelbase.
While the real Landaulet was clearly stretched between the two axles and got the seats of an S-Class, this G500 4 × 4 ^ 2 has the standard wheelbase and only little loading space because the seats were pushed back. A new carpet had to be laid, as well as a revised headliner, new side panels and, above all, a lot of Alcantara. It took about six months for the transformation to complete. Since there is no fabric top for the time being, an attachable fabric roof could be added later if the vehicle owner so wishes. At the moment he's having a lot of fun with his modified G-Class. As you may recall, this isn't the only G500 4 × 4 ^ 2 that is out and about without a fixed roof.
The first step is the professional skier Jon Olsson with the high-flying G-Classhe turned into a convertible. In the Olsson model, a maritime-style teak deck was added to the rear of the vehicle and the side and stern pillars of the vehicle were removed. We are curious what will come next! If we receive more information about the changes to the "G" from RDB LA in a timely manner, there is of course an update for this report.
