The best-selling plug-in hybrid vehicle in Europe1 was called Ford Kuga again in the first half of 2022. This is the result of analyzes by JATO Dynamics and Ford's own surveys. More than 23.000 customers opted for a Kuga PHEV during this period. As a result, its sales exceeded those of its closest competitor by more than 28 percent. The successful five-door with a combined electric and petrol engine drive already led the new registration statistics for plug-in hybrids in 2021. Ford is celebrating this result with two new equipment options for the entire Kuga series: The styling package ST-Line Black Package combines black body details with 20-inch alloy wheels and is available from 2.500 euros.

The special comfort seats with the seal of approval from “Aktion Gesunder Rücken eV” put the focus on the well-being of frequent drivers. Ford offers them for all Kuga variants. They cost 600 euros for the Kuga Titanium X and ST-Line X, for all other equipment lines they are available from 1.400 euros.
“Many of our customers would like to take the first steps towards electromobility without immediately opting for a fully electrified vehicle. As the best-selling plug-in hybrid model in Europe, the Ford Kuga PHEV proves that it is the right choice for many of these customers,” said Glen Goold, Ford Kuga range director. "Cars like the Kuga plug-in hybrid are part of Ford's commitment to an electrified future."
The Kuga's plug-in hybrid system consists of a 2,5-liter four-cylinder petrol engine that works according to the Atkinson cycle, an electric motor and a lithium-ion high-voltage battery with a capacity of 14,4 kilowatt hours (kWh). . It transmits its system output of 165 kW (225 hp) to the wheels via a continuously variable CVT automatic transmission. The petrol engine mobilizes 112 kW (152 hp) and the electric drive 97 kW (131 hp). In purely electric mode, the Kuga plug-in hybrid can cover up to 64 kilometers (WLTP) with no local emissions - it is therefore ideal for driving in heavy traffic, in urban areas and in environmental zones. The combined WLTP power consumption is between 15,6 and 14,8 kWh/100 km.
Styling package ST-Line Black Package – for additional style and more individuality
Ford is now offering the new ST-Line Black Package styling package for the Kuga. It includes exclusive black design elements for the exterior and can be combined with the entire range of exterior colours. The ST-Line Black Package complements the already powerful appearance of the Ford Kuga ST-Line with a black-painted roof and black-painted mirror caps, special front panel openings and a rear spoiler. 20-inch light-alloy wheels underline the powerful appearance. The tailgate lettering and ST-Line badge are also black.
New comfort seats in the front offer pleasant support for the spine
The comfort seats developed by Ford are now available for the first time for all Kuga models. Thanks to their excellent support for the spine, they have received the seal of approval from “Aktion Gesunder Rücken eV” (AGR). In addition to the length, height and inclination of the seat, the 18 possible settings also include a 4-way lumbar and headrest adjustment. In this way they enable a maximum comfortable and back-friendly sitting position.
