DMC (DeLorean Motor Company)

Who does not know the DeLorean DMC 12 from the fantasy / science fiction film series "Back to the Future" with Marty McFly (Michael J. Fox) and Dr. Emmett Brown (Christoph Lloyd)? And of course the DMC 12 came from the DeLorean Motor Company (DMC) which was a project from then General Motors Vice President John DeLorean. DMC was supposed to manufacture thoroughbred sports cars and was founded in 1975. In 1981 the first serial production of a vehicle with a body made of stainless steel began (in Dunmurry). This car was the DMC-12 drawn by Giorgio Giugiaro and featuring a brushed unpainted stainless steel body and the legendary gullwing doors. Back then, the DMC-12 was like something from another world because it was ultra-modern and unique. Nevertheless, production was discontinued after 21 months and around 9.000 vehicles were manufactured. Another idea was later the DeLorean Medusa as a four-seater limousine with double doors. It had a drag coefficient of just 0,263 and was the most aerodynamic vehicle in the world at the time. The DMC (DeLorean Motor Company) Medusa never went into series production.
