Makkina, a creative forge based in London, recently unveiled their latest prank: the Triumph TR25, an electric rebirth of the British roadster myth. But surprisingly, a well-known vehicle from Germany is hidden under the breathtaking design. The Triumph TR25, a brilliant creation of London-based master designer Makkina, emerges as single seater roadster on, with short overhangs, generously dimensioned wheels and the basic shape of a brick. But despite the apparently robust structure, the Brit presents itself with seductive curves in the fenders that are reminiscent of the historical original. There is a hinged one for the co-pilot emergency seat, and between this and the driver's seat there is a solid one Cross brace.
TRIUMPH TR25 Homage
The "25" in the name is a tribute to Makkina's 25th anniversary and skilfully appears in the headlights. So after four decades, the Triumph name shines brightly again on a trunk lid, but this time on one concept car. And the interior of the Triumph TR25 consistently adheres to the minimalist theme. A nostalgic one Steering wheel with thin spokes was taken from the original and behind it is a simple one Display, which shows speed, battery level and range and on which also if necessary Navigation and on-board computer data appear. On a technical level, the Makkina Triumph TR25 has its roots in the rear-wheel drive chassis of the BMW i3s. No wonder, since the Munich company not only owns the trademark rights to Triumph, but was also significantly involved in the development of the project.
German engineering meets British style
Therefore, inside the TR25 are the Motor, the axles and the Battery of the four-wheeled and 250.000-fold manufactured electric pioneer. So under the hood of the Triumph TR25 is no need for a conventional cooler. Instead, the engine, the axles and the traction battery of the more than four meter long electric pioneer are located there. It has been almost four decades since the last car rolled off the assembly line at Triumph's factory in Coventry, England. Nevertheless, the brand is still present - primarily through the Triumph TR6, of which hundreds of thousands were built in the 1960s and 1970s. So now the name can once again be seen on the tailgate of a spectacular concept car.
British charm meets German precision
The vehicle as a tribute to the legendary Triumph TR2 MCV575 "Jabbeke", which, with its aerodynamic shape, set the speed record for production vehicles with a cubic capacity of less than 1953 liters in May 2,0, impresses across the board. The TR25 shows that the past and future of the automotive industry can blend harmoniously. The masterpiece combines British style with German technology and could represent a decisive step towards the electrification of classic roadsters.
