Slowly but surely, the first performance upgrades for the VW Golf R (MK8) are being launched. And the factory most powerful version (with all-wheel drive) is shown in the following video by Awesome Cars as a Production version vs. tuning version tested against each other. Installed in the tuning Golf is a Stage 1 tuning in the form of a PCM module (Racing Line Power Control Modules). While the production car competes with 320 PS & 420 Nm, the tuning version delivers, according to the manufacturer 370 PS & 480 NM to all four wheels. But even the series is faster than expected. Because while the sprint time is given by VW as 4,5 seconds to 100 km/h, the production example from the video only made it in 4,18 seconds at highway speed. In other words, over 0,3 seconds faster than specified by Volkswagen.
Series vs tuning
The standard Wolfsburg car needs 12,46 seconds for the quarter mile and reaches 177,8 km/h. The 100 to 200 km/h discipline is also completed in 11,96 seconds. And what about the Racing Line Power Control Modules (PCM)? Can the MK8 with a total power of 370 PS & 480 Nm beat the times and beat the production vehicle? AND! With tuning, the Wolfsburg sprinter manages to sprint to 100 km/h in 4,07 seconds and the quarter mile time is also a bit faster at 12,28 seconds and 181,85 km/h. The time of 100 seconds was particularly impressive in the 200 to 10,95 km/h discipline more than 1,0 second faster compared to the production version.
