Placing offensive stickers on the car can be considered as a personal expression of opinion, as written in the provisions on freedom of expression in Article 5 of the Basic Law. But a specific first and last name should not be on the sticker.

The penalties according to the catalog of fines depend on the type of impairment:

  • If driving is endangered due to restricted visibility, there is a €10 penalty.
  • If a headlight is covered by a sticker, you pay €20.
  • If other people are endangered by a covered headlight, there is a fine of €25.
  • If there is damage to property due to the covered headlights, €35 will be charged.
  • Driving with an illegal vehicle due to an illegal sticker attached costs €25.
  • If the license plate covered by a sticker, you have to pay a fine of 65 €.
  • If you drive a car that is not roadworthy (by an attached sticker) and you also endanger road safety, there is a penalty of 90 €.
