Audi answers - Horch soon enters the Maybach
Audi brings the Horch A8L with the facelift?

Audi's answer to Maybach should perhaps come and come up with the powerful W12 engine (70 - 6.0 TFSI) of the D5 (internal type designation 4N). The humble beginnings of Audi go back to the early 19th century when August Horch, former production manager at Karl Benz, founded a new company together with business partner Salli Herz. In 1904 he founded Horch & Co. Motorwagenwerke AG (public limited company). In 1909 he founded August Horch Automobilwerke GmbH to escape problems with the original company's CFO. However, since he did not have the rights to the name "Horch", he had no choice but to rename the second company. At the suggestion of a son of one of his business partners, he decided on “Audi”. In 1932 Horch and Audi merged with DKW and Wanderer to form Auto Union AG.

After the Second World War, several executives traveled to Bavaria to found Auto Union GmbH, which 1965 was eventually taken over by the Volkswagen Group. The rest is history. During the year 2018, a new report from the Automotive News, Audi plans to use the name "Horch" for a more unusual version of the A8 flagship maybe revive. Sources close to the four rings say the ultra-luxurious derivative is set for debut with the mid-cycle facelift of the full-size D5 sedan, which is due to hit the market in 2-3 years ago. The A8 Horch, for use against the Mercedes-Maybach S-Class was developed, should offer more equipment than the A8 L, but without extending the wheelbase further, as is the case with the luxury models from Daimler. So be the "Equipment beyond the regular A8“, As well as tailor-made light alloy wheels and the“ Horch ”logo either on the front wings or on the C-pillar.

Mercedes Maybach S650 vs. Horch Audi A8L?

The performance is expected from a V8 engine and also from the VW Group's 6,0-liter W12 twin turbo engine, which is not yet available for the A8 / A8 L. As a side note, Audi has announced that the current generation of its crown jewel will be the very last model from the company to be blessed with the mighty engine. While Mercedes plans to expand the Maybach range beyond the S-Class, Audi's Horch will just be another A8. The possibility of making Horch an independent brand is also excluded, as Daimler did in the 2000s with the unfortunate Maybach and his 57er and 62er Models did.
