Paddy McGrath from Speed Hunters Magazine once again got a very special one-off piece in front of the lens. A BMW 325i (E30) sedan that received the S50B30 six-cylinder from the E36 M3. Especially the variant with 286 hp the one at the beginning of the 90s with one Specific output of 70,23 kW per liter of displacement was one of the series naturally aspirated engines with the highest liter output in the world. Especially for the E36 M3 GT, BMW later even pushed the engine to 295 hp, which the owner also did Josh Greenes White. So he knew that there was still potential and so he even achieved a Mishimoto oil cooler and other changes using a single throttle system, driftwork cooler measured 315 hp. Incidentally, the engine was coupled to the well-known ZF 5-speed transmission from the E36 M3 and made suitable for the E30 with many changes, for example to the drive.

Typhoon radiator grille on the E30

And optically, the classic has built a few peculiarities. First and foremost there would be the relatively unknown typhoon radiator grille with 4-fold headlights, but the Mtech 2 front lip and the Mtech 1 rear spoiler are not often seen. In addition, the sunroof was removed and as a visual highlight there was a multi-part Work Equip 40 Wheelset for the 3 series that sits consistently in the wheel arch using BC coilovers. A look through the spokes reveals a brake system consisting of an FC3S Mazda RX-7 with 4-piston calipers at the front and rear, a hydraulic Chase Bays handbrake system with Born2Drift adapters. All around, there were carbon Lorraine pads and HEL Performance steel braided brake lines. And a lot has happened in the cabin too.

Bride Zeta II driver's seat / Bride Brix passenger seat

Here you can see that the E30 is used as a drift vehicle. The Bride Zeta II driver's seat and the Bride Brix passenger seat provide a secure hold, both of which are equipped with TRS 4-point belts. There was also a 6-point roll cage, a 340 mm Nardi steering wheel and a new gear knob is installed. The project is rounded off with further changes such as the three GReddy displays on the dashboard and the rev counter in the center of the instrument cluster. The rest is spartan and limited to the bare minimum. All in all a very successful renovation as we find it with a certain one understatement convinced. If we receive timely information on further changes not previously mentioned, there is of course an update for this report.
