VW is celebrating 25 years of the Polo GTI and is introducing the special model Polo GTI Edition 25 to celebrate the milestone. The small GTI was adorned with the three legendary letters for the first time in 1998. And a quarter of a century after the event, VW presents a limited edition of the modern Polo GTI. Not only the famous "older brother", the Golf GTI, has a rich history, the Polo also has its sporting roots. With the anniversary model limited to 2.500 pieces Polo GTI Edition 25 VW honors 25 years of the Polo GTI. However, the engine remains unchanged. The 2.0 TSI with an output of 152 kW (207 hp) and 320 Newton meters of torque continues to drive the GTI. This enables the front-wheel drive Polo GTI Edition 25 to accelerate from 6,5 to 0 km/h in 100 seconds. The vehicle also has a specially tuned sports suspension as standard, which lowers the body by 15 millimeters.

The typical GTI hallmarks are the red painted brake calipers and trim strips, the radiator grille with a honeycomb pattern and the chrome-plated tailpipes. The Polo GTI Edition 25 also has a large number of exclusive equipment features. In addition to the 18-inch "Adelaide" alloy wheels in black (black glossy), a black roof and black exterior mirrors give the powerful midget a sporty look. The interior impresses with outstanding sports seats made of perforated leather in black and red.
The GTI lettering is elegantly embroidered into the seats, which gives an additional exclusive touch. The inlays are in glossy black and bear the distinctive GTI lettering in red, which gives the interior a stylish and sporty look. The limited edition is also highlighted by door sills with the "One of 2500" logo. The Polo GTI Edition 25 is not only available in the typical GTI colors Pure White, Kings Red Metallic, Reef Blue Metallic, Smoke Gray Metallic and Deep Black Pearl Effect, but also in Ascot Gray.
Lots of equipment included as standard
LED matrix headlights with dynamic high-beam assistant and LED daytime running lights come as standard. The special model is also equipped with a leather multifunction sports steering wheel with shift paddles and the 25 logo, as well as numerous assistance systems. Like most Polo models, the Polo GTI Edition 25 is manufactured in the South African city of Kariega. "Our team in South Africa is very proud of this car", explains Martina Biene, Managing Director and CEO of Volkswagen Group South Africa (VWSA). "The Polo has a long tradition here, especially the Polo GTI." The plant, which opened near Port Elizabeth in 1951, is the largest car factory in Africa. VWSA produces the Polo Vivo, the Polo and exclusively the Polo GTI here. In Germany, the GTI Edition 25 can be purchased from June 1, 2023 at a starting price of €35.205.
