The magazine BMW Blog reported a few days ago that the manufacturer Alpina apparently years ago worked on a BMW i8. In an interview with Andreas Bovensiepen (CEO of ALPINA), it became clear that the Alpina i8 project in Buchloe was already being approached several years ago. The basis was an i8 coupe that was slightly modified, apparently even on public roads. And especially with the burner, there was a big difference compared to the series. The i8 was equipped with the then 2 liter 4 cylinder from BMW which increased the performance to a total of 460 PS. In order to get the larger engine into the body, however, also changes to the frame of the vehicle had to be made. But there are no official pictures of the Alpina i8 because Alpina was very careful at the time that the prototype did not come under the spotlight of Erlkönig hunters. Horatiu Boeriu of the BMW blog, however, speaks of the Bovensiepen on his phone could show some pictures. Apparently, the vehicle was then painted completely black and had the typical Alpina rims mounted. A few modifications to the aprons front and rear and a fixed rear wing and slightly widened wheel arches. You can do the whole story HERE ...
