Already next week the Geneva Motor Show starts (08 until 18, March 2018) and next to the Porsche Panamera Sport Turismo as TechArt GrandGT and dozens of other vehicles, the brand new Alpina XD3 based on the current X3 of the G01 model generation will also celebrate its premiere. The highlight of the modified X3 are definitely the four turbines that provide powerful propulsion with 388 hp. And all other data on the XD3 should also cause some outbreaks of fear sweat in some performance sedan drivers. Alpina has only recently revised the X3 and it is currently allowed to use four turbochargers to achieve the huge leap in performance.
Here, too, the basis is the in-line six-cylinder with a displacement of three liters, which in the "old"Alpina XD3 Biturbo 350 PS mobilized and provided a maximum torque of 700 Nm. But now it's up to 38 hp with four loaders and the torque also rises again by a whopping 70 Nm. The compact SUV still weighs 2.045 kilograms that are far too heavy (it is finally a compact X3), but the extra power ensures that it only takes about 10 minutes in 4,6 seconds (-0,3 seconds over the series) and the top speed now at 267 km / h (+ 16 km / h over the series) lies. It is switched with the well-known eight-speed automatic sports with the usual switch Tronic function. At the pump, the XD3 should be content with a standard consumption of 9,0 liters on 100 kilometers, which of course is not tied to a species-appropriate driving style.
The new one also comes with a sports suspension with electronically adjustable dampers as well as active and electronically controlled rear axle differential and the G01 XD3 can also look forward to the performance-oriented BMW xDrive all-wheel drive system. The XD3 is visually recognizable with the typical Alpina light alloy rims that are installed in 20 inches. The wheel set is equipped with tires in the format 255/45 at the front and 285/40 at the rear. As an option, Alpina also has 22-inch models in stock, which are subject to a surcharge. Other features are of course the new front apron with Alpina lettering and a discreet diffuser insert for the rear apron which, thanks to recesses, perfectly encloses the exhaust system with four tailpipes. Alpina emblems on the front and back are of course also included.
If you want, you can of course also order the classic Alpina decor for the flanks. And small Alpina details in the interior like the blue instruments are also included. You can order the new one from the 2. Quarter 2018 and beginning of 2019 should probably be the first deliveries. The prices are so far unknown.
