2021 MG 6 Trophy with carbon styling kit on BBS rims!

The traditional British brand MG, which has belonged to the Chinese SAIC Group for almost a decade and now also has its vehicles manufactured in China, is becoming increasingly popular in China when it comes to Tuning / Modifications goes. The compact hatchback MG 6 in particular has blossomed into one of the stars of the CDM scene, and the sales figures for the MG models are also outstanding. Up until a few years ago, this rehabilitation would definitely not have been suspected, and many car fans in particular still remember the dark times under BMW's direction. But now the octagon shines like never before in its almost 100-year history and MG steers from one sales record to the next. We wonder what makes SAIC so much better than BMW back then!

China-Brit in touring car style!

A silver finish and a Carbon styling kit It is well known that they go well together, so it is not surprising that the combination is becoming more and more common. But let's go into this one in more detail now  MG6 Trophy one that is doing the rounds in China and that we are introducing to you today. It was optimally staged by a tuning crew and deserves a closer look. Next to the Carbon Kit, the one front spoiler with side flaps and one bonnet made of carbon fiber also became a large, multi-piece rear wing installed, which makes the MG 6 look almost like a real WTCR racer.

The Monster Wing features stabilizers and side flaps, which are supposed to benefit the aerodynamics, but in this case mainly sharpen the optics. When choosing the rims, the decision was made for 18-inch Alus by BBS, which are made in the Y-double spoke style and shine with a silver finish. Painted red calipers are also part of the vehicle's portfolio, which is sure to leave a positive impression on many tuning enthusiasts. Last but not least, there are a few gimmicks on the car, such as one Unterbodenbeleuchtung or LED strip on the rear bumper, which unfortunately looks a little too much like Christmas lights.

Also at the front were various in the area of the carbon spoiler LED light strips installed, which should cause a stir, especially at night! From our point of view, the accessories are clearly a matter of taste, but we also find the tuning successful with the various light sources on the vehicle. Of course we don't want to omit those Carbon mirror caps, which are almost irrelevant due to the festive lighting on the wagon!

Two engine variants for the MG 6 Trophy

A 1,5-liter turbo petrol engine and a plug-in hybrid that combines the 1,5-liter turbo with an electric drive are available for the MG. While the non-electrified turbo petrol engine only has an output of 181 hp and a maximum torque of 275 Newton meters, the plug-in is much better! 305 HP system output and tight 480 Newtonmeter maximum torque ensure that it is suitable as a compact athlete. Unfortunately, we do not know which of the two drives is installed in this example. However, power is always transmitted to the front wheels via an automatic transmission.

Our verdict on the MG 6 Trophy:

If you leave out the various light sources, the project is a success! the CDM scene is always more willing to experiment and unfortunately not everything works out!
