American car designer Henrik Fisker is entering e-mobility and, with his new start-up Fisker Inc., is announcing the development of four models with a purely electric drive in the next five years. The US entrepreneur wants to solve the range and charging problem on the basis of an innovative battery system, the introduction of which he has, however, postponed to the second model generation. First of all, Fisker relies on the cooperation with globally leading automobile manufacturers, for whose components and batteries he would like to acquire licenses. Volkswagen is one of the preferred partners. The Wolfsburg-based company recently announced the goal of producing three million electric cars a year on the basis of their MEB platform by 2025. These announcements must be evaluated in light of the upcoming Fisker Inc. IPO.
New mobility concepts!
The main focus of Fisker Inc. is to revolutionize our understanding of mobility. Instead of owning a private car, the US company aims to be flexible Subscription system in which the user books mobility as a service. E-mobility is therefore only part of the corporate concept. Nevertheless, the Fisker models can also be purchased privately. Currently, however, only on paper, in the form of reservations with the purchase of warrants. The first model to hit the market, the "Ocean", has been announced with a pre-tax list price of $ 37.000 to $ 69.000 and will be based on the VW MEB platform.
E-mobility for high demands - the models!
Even at Fisker, the e-car remains a product in the upper price segments. Entry prices over $ 30.000 and a look at the model range clearly show where the automaker sees its customers. In addition to the premiere model "Ocean", a mid-range SUV, the EMotion is in the starting blocks, a sporty sedan. The range is to be completed by two more models, of which only photos of prototypes have come to the public so far: an SUV crossover and a pickup.
