Powerful Power - Flyin 'Miata Mazda MX-5 with V8 Power

The tuning team Flyin 'Miata from the USA (Grand Junction, Colorado) has published a modified Mazda MX-5 with an extremely fat LS3 V8 engine on its website, which we would like to show you. Although the car is no longer as light-footed as it was from the factory, including the appropriate gearbox, the built-in 6,2-liter V8, which provides at least 432 hp and around 570 Nm of torque, should take the helm on the straight tear around again. And Flyin 'Miata's Keith Tanner wanted the swap to look as standard as possible. Since then, the engine has been so tight that the insulation pad in the bonnet even had to be removed to create more space. And wAs was to be expected, the factory Miata gearbox naturally couldn't handle the performance of the LS3. So Flyin 'Miata swapped it for a T56 counterpart.

The transmission not only fits the engine perfectly, but also places the gearshift lever in the originally familiar position in the interior. There were still components from a Pontiac G8 and a Chevrolet Camaro under the sheet metal cladding from the rear, and to keep the aesthetics of the Sleeper alive, Keith opted for an inconspicuous exhaust with a flap function. It enables the typical LS sound and the flaps can be controlled via the factory wiper lever.  As far as the details of the optical or technical changes are concerned, we have tried to find out more information for you and have found what we are looking for.

However, we cannot say at the moment whether there are any changes. What we have been able to find out and have recognized ourselves, we provide you in a small summary below. Since, as is well known, the "Forest for the trees does not see " it may well be that we missed something. Should you have noticed any further modifications compared to the production model, then we would be happy if you write us the changes in the "comment box", we will then add them to the post as soon as possible. PS. Larry Chen (car photographer) took a look at the LS3 Miata in the latest issue of Hoonigan AutoFocus. And the best for last: Flyin 'Miata is now selling complete conversion kits if you want to join the “V8 ND Miata Club”. The prices are not yet known.
