Customization is still important for car buyers!

It has always been and will probably always be that way: Individualization is important to people, even with cars. According to a representative study by the Nuremberg market research company Puls, 35 percent of 1.021 Germans who recently bought a car or are planning a purchase would like to change the standard condition of their vehicle and thus stand out from the crowd. In contrast, however, it is only 11 percent of people who ultimately really customize their vehicle accordingly, which speaks for unexploited market potential.

Why is this contrast so high?

Customization is still important for car buyers!

This is not least due to the fact that the term tuning is often misunderstood. According to the study, 15 percent of those questioned associate negative terms such as show-off or poser with the term tuning, which is also due to one-sided reports in the media. 10 percent also think of words such as superfluous and unnecessary. It looks completely different if you choose the term individualization instead of the term tuning. A full 26 percent associate the term with a positive description such as personal, individual or unique.

The tuning market has a lot of potential!

The potential that the market has becomes clear when you consider that a full 17 percent of those surveyed are willing to pay more for individualized vehicles (up to 20 percent surcharge). 14 percent would pay up to 10 percent more and 9 percent of those surveyed would pay up to 30 percent more. In addition, around 50 percent address the existing customization offer from the manufacturer Porsche, where fingerprints or initials are used, for example Porsche direct printing process can be incorporated into the paint.

His collection of books, magazines and brochures on the subject of car tuning has now reached such proportions that he himself has become a walking reference work for the tuning scene.  More about Thomas
