Frozen panes? Beware, these ice scrapers should be avoided!

How are good and bad ice scrapers different? Good ice scraper remove the ice reliable, but do damage not the windshield. Bad ice scrapers do this less well because they like to scratch the glass. Another option are electric ice scraperwho have the 12 volt socket of the car. These are supposed to remove the ice from the slices with heating coils or rotating plastic blades. In practice, however, this often works less well. The ice is not removed properly or the systems scratch the windows. The expert organization KÜS therefore recently investigated three electric and eight conventional Ice scraper. The electrical all showed a rather poor performance in this test and were therefore awarded no recommendation the KÜS.

Glove scratches are also not suitable

Gloves with integrated scratches also turned out to be in the test as not particularly suitable. They suffered from defects in scratching performance and durability. Likewise not recommendable are ice scrapers with brass blades. While these achieve good results with a thick layer of ice, thin layers of ice often resulted in damage to the pane. The best results achieved exclusively conventional ice scraper with a large handle and plastic blade. These are also available for four euros. Regardless of the type of ice pusher used, the experts advise you to be more careful when scraping ice. Even small dirt particles or grains of sand can damage the window. And we also tried an electric ice scraper. The result is in the following video.
