Turning in the state - spinner rims in the trend

Spinner rims (Spinning Wheels) are rim essays that continue to perform a rotary motion even when the wheel is stationary. This is a sexy optical effect, which is unfortunately banned in Germany, even if such rims can be bought in this country.

Fashionable US invention of spinning wheels

The spinner rims were invented in the USA. The hip hop and rap scene loves her above all else. The vehicle stops, but the wheel seems to spin at a tremendous speed. In Germany, this is considered dangerous, you want children and other road users before the Spinning Wheels protect. Anyone who is interested in tuning, has definitely heard something of the spinner rims. They can be found, for example, on large SUVs and heavily tuned cars. However, they are only part of the optical tuning. The rim attachments are a real eye-catcher, but the performance does not affect them at all. Nevertheless, it remains the case: they are not allowed in Germany. A vehicle with such rims loses the approval.

How do spinner rims work?

These rims are actually similar to the hubcaps. They are mounted on the wheel hub so that they can rotate freely. When stopping the vehicle, they continue to turn due to the previously absorbed kinetic energy. But even when braking or accelerating, they turn differently than the wheel, which makes them a real eye-catcher. This may give the impression that the wheel is standing in a moving car. The Spinning Wheels are usually made of chromed metal or plastic, they have been around since the 1990 years. In the new millennium they became a big fad in the US, even the manufacturers of US luxury cars sometimes assemble them in a weakened form. So there are spinner rims, where a small plate on the wheel hub ensures that the manufacturer's logo is always upright. Under the hand, some hobbyists and dealers in Germany offer spinner rims from around 1.500 Euro per set.

Why is the German legislature banning Spinning Wheels?

In this country, one refers to the § 30 StVZO, which states that components in principle may not irritate or endanger other road users. An endangerment could assume that a child reaches into the spinning spinner rim of a stationary vehicle. The optical distraction for other road users could cause them to perform inappropriate evasive or braking maneuvers. The appearance of the vehicle is no longer adequate to the traffic. That's the same reason that lights up on and even in a car must follow strict rules.
