Who will win the Superbike 2022? Alvaro Bautista and his Ducati Panigale V4R in the lead

The 2022 Superbike season is coming to an end, with only a few races remaining, although there is a Spaniard on a Ducati in the best position in the table: Alvaro Bautista seems to be winning his second title as Superbike champion. The first came in 2006 when he prevailed on his Aprilia 125. This time history could repeat itself on another Italian motorcycle, the Ducati Panigale V4R, with which he holds the top of the table with a clear lead over everyone else. As confirmed by the odds of the most important online betting portals, the pilot, born in 1984, is the top candidate to win the championship with significantly lower odds compared to his opponents, some of whom are ten times higher.

Who are the main rivals of Superbike 2022?

Contenders for the win against Alvaro Bautista are Toprak Razgatlioglu, Yamaha rider and reigning champion, who is looking to defend the title so far, and Jonathan Rea, Kawasaki rider, who has a more or less similar (poor) chance of success on his Yamaha. The Spaniard Bautista has little doubt at the moment that he will win the championship: There are only four races left, each of which can lead to a decision. However, the Ducati rider has to be careful not to lose the lead in the final races.

The Spanish pilot dominated the Barcelona Grand Prix, leaving the opposition behind on a track perfect for his Ducati and had no problem taking the lead despite starting from fifth place: the Spaniard overtook everyone else in the first corner and was gone at the front runner. Toprak Razgatlioglu was unable to close the gap as after just a few laps the gap widened allowing the Spaniard to win the race and claim his ninth win.

The situation in the Superbike table: what can happen in the season finale?

Based on the official Superbike ranking the gap between Bautista and runner-up Razgatlioglu is wide. It almost takes the Turkish driver a miracle to close the gap. The Spaniard's lead is huge and only if everything goes wrong in the final races could a victory for Ducati in the championship still be averted. What speaks for it are the racetracks that are not necessarily successful for Bautista, since he was not very successful in the past, as in Portugal. On the other hand, Jonathan Rea dominated. The UK motorcyclist is just a few points away from the Turkish rider and so, like the Yamaha rider, could be able to pull off a miracle and eventually take the overall win.
