BMW M2 Competition Cabriolet by Mantec Racing

Having recently seen the spectacular M3 CS Touring (F81) with original CS technology were allowed to admire, the next copy already comes with one Engine Swap, And this time the vehicle comes from Germany from Mantec Racing GmbH in Geilenkirchen. The guys are especially known for BMW AG vehicles with M engines and now combine the advantages of the open-top 87 with the power of the limited M2 with a BMW F2 M2 Competition Cabriolet. And the highlight, of course, is the transplantation of the 3,0-liter twin-turbo six-cylinder S55B30 (comes from an M4 Competition, is also in the M2 Comp. installed) in the engine compartment from the original M235i. The 326 hp N55B30 is history and the "M2 Competition Cabriolet" was born.

550 PS engine from the M4

And the engine is even stronger than that of the brand new one M2 CS (F87) with 450 PS, which will not be available until next year. Mantec Racing, under the management / CEO of Günther Manhart, ensures that the performance is increased to an impressive 550 hp. This is made possible, among other things, by chip tuning and a specially made sports exhaust system with chic carbon tailpipes. And the 8-speed automatic of the M235i is history. Mantec has also installed the M7's 4-speed dual clutch transmission and also the M Performance carbon-ceramic brake system. Finally, the potent 2 would like to be braked adequately. And even optically everything is trimmed for M2 Competition. Exclusively with OEM components (Front fenders, side wall flares, front apron, rear apron, black kidneys and gills) the M235i was rebuilt. And there was even a new bonnet in the M4 GTS style for the Open Air-M2. It is similar to that of the new M2 CS and shows itself with Power Dome and central air opening.

Edision Composites GTS-Style Hood

The component is a carbon copy from Edision Composites that the guys produce in Wuppertal. For that we have some information about the 20 inch wheelset. The forged cross-spoke alloy wheel also comes from the M4 Competition and more precisely it is the type M star spoke 666. The exact dimensions are 9 × 20 inches at the front and 10 × 20 inches at the rear and the wheel set is equipped with Michelin slippers in the format 265 / 30 and 295/25. And so that the wheelset sits so consistently and precisely in the wheel arch as is the case here, of course, a lowering had to be done. Mantec Racing GmbH opted for a fully adjustable KW Variant 3-coilover that can be tailored precisely to the needs of the driver and the route. And finally, the interior has also been buttoned up. Here, too, only OEM components are used and so, for example, the Sports Seats or even the 300 km / h instrument cluster from the current M2 Competition. If we receive timely information on further changes not previously mentioned, there is of course an update for this report.
